Thanks for posting up and inviting the new guy on the block out to some meets. I can't wait till the next one so I can attend and check out what I'm sure are some great rides.
I'd like to hear your guys thoughts on TINT here. I have some friends that do 20% and never have issues, but they are on trucks mostly.
I wanted to see what you guys have on your rides and if you had any issues with the police. $297 per window fine is pretty steep for 20% tint. 35% just looks so light. Any thoughts?

I don't drive much in heavily policed areas like Waikiki or in town at night, but if you do I would definitely stay legal with your tint. Also safety checks will become painful with dark tint.
With new technology films there is no reason to go super dark unless you require super privacy. Even light tints will block UV and heat now. Talk to the shop about your options.
For a good shop at a reasonable cost i like Tintwerkes near Ala Moana, but for the absolute best job as far as fit and finish definitely use Al's Tinting on Kam Hwy. In my opinion and experience, stay away from T&T tinting.

When I had my M5 tinted here I went with 35% Huper Optik which was a little lighter than I wanted but I also did not want the hefty fine associated with darker tint. Plus getting the safety inspection becomes more difficult. I had mine done at Al's Tinting and they did a very good job.
Shea's has started doing tinting as well. Have not used him for this yet but if it is as good as his detailing then you will not be dissapointed.

My p car came tinted, but the quality was not very good. Would like to get it redone but I am moving to Texas next year where the legal limit is much darker, so I plan on waiting and getting it done there.

+1. I have Solar Gard Ultra 75 clear tints all around from Tintwerks. Reasonable cost and very good workmanship. Keeps the car relatively cool, despite giving the appearance of having no tints at all
. Al's tinting would be the best there is, and pricing will reflect that.

Porsches and Pina Coladas (or at least Portuguese Sausage)
or
Mercedes and Mai Tais (or at least Malasadas)
or
Lambos and Luau Punch (or at least Leis)
or
BMWs and Blue Hawaiians
or..... well, you get the idea
