Hi All..

I want to do a simple setup for my 2010 911 S / PDK. I posted earlier that throttle response is lacking, and I'd like more smooth power. I DONT want to loose torque or low end though, I'd like to increase it.

I was about to do the EVOMSit tune, the Sharkwerkz 997 Exhaust, and maybe a plenum. I'm very new to all of this. My car is certified and the EVOM tune doesn't have the ability to go back to factory settings with out sending it in. The GIAC seems to have a device to turn it back to factory, but I don't know which one is better, and for this setup. Thoughts?

Secondly, what's the difference between the sharkwerkz 997 exhaust and a 200 cell x-pipe from Fabspeed or similar?

Would love to hear your thoughts on what tune, exhaust (sharkwerkz or some kind of 200 cell cat x-pipe) and if the plenum is necessary. Also, once this is done, how will my car be transformed?

Thx!

Softronic can reload your original software (you do it yourself if you want). As for exhaust, do 200 cell cats instead of a bypass.

ok. here is my 2 cents.

u have a 2010 S with PDK.. if u have it in sports mode and u feel the throttle response is lacking with the paddles, then u r in the wrong car. U prob need the turbo S to get the feeling u want.

Short of putting on a turbo or a supercharger, ur current car will only improve marginally with the performance mods u've mentioned. What i mean is u may end up spending $5-8 k and still end up with car lacking the throttle response u desire.

i'd first suggest you save the money for a turbo S..

However, if u must, I'd then suggest u to find some1 with similar set up u r looking for (i.e. any exhaust, tune, plenum, etc) and get a ride-along to see if the surge is enough for u.. before u spend the dough.

There are three basic components to an exhaust. A header (manifold) is a piping which collects the exhaust gas from the engine, which then goes to a catalytic converter (cat) which controls the emission (but also bottlenecks the breathing of your car). Its followed by a muffler which 'muffles' the sound. An aftermarket muffler will only enhance the sound but u may lose some low end if car is not properly tuned.

only thing u really need to get the most gain from a NA car (without an engine over-haul) is an intake / a 200/100 cell cat (fabspeed) / and a tune (softronic)

power gain from plenum on the DFI engine is unproven FWIW

Great info. Will I lose any power down low with the 200 cat? Also, why is a 200 cell cat better than say sharkwerkz exhaust?

200 cell cats will improve air flow ( will give some power increases). SW bypass will change the sound (no power increases)

Well, no I don't mean the SW bypass, I mean their exhaust. It claims to make 13-15hp.

Do you mean this unit?

If so it is a center muffler delete, and I would be surprised if it really gave you any power. I would say that the weight reduction is a better advantage then the possible power increase.

He's that's the one. Why would you say a 200 cell cat is better, and is there one that's good yet not crazy expensive that is recommended?

200 cell cats are better as they reduce the amount of resistance to the exhaust flow, faster moving exhaust will give you more power.

AWE 200 Cell Cats are very popular

Out of curiosity I just checked a few of the vendor web sites (Awe, Fabspeed, and Maxspeed). Only Fabspeed shows a 997.2 200 cell cat. The header and the cat are one unit.

I wonder if anyone has it in 2 pieces, cat only without header for 997.2. I emailed AWE and Mike told me they do not carry it for 997.2 since there is no real HP gain.
