i'm on my 6th porsche and my 4th 911 and live in nj and drive mine all year snow and all. I'd never drive anything else.:d
all i can say is (and i have no frame of reference for this either)

ding ding! Spotted! Porschephile!
I have had my dream car for 3 months and find myself annoyed with little Problems since I bought my car and now it seems the initial wow factor is wearing off. I think that I made a mistake and should have bought a different car for northern california year round driving. Oh well. NOt to be a downer on a great forum and I love Porsches but I think nice cars are not my style. I prefer to drive a car year round and not worry about the occasional door ding
Not trying to pry here...and I could be wrong...but it sounds like this isn't really about your car and more about something larger in your life.
Anyways, I wish you the best of luck.
i used to date a Victoria's Secret model few years ago...
i broke up with her because i was constantly worried she was getting hit on by other guys... plus i was tired of the great sex.
now i am dating a 250lb cow with cellulite and facial hair...
the sex sucks but i don't have to worry anymore about others hitting on her.
BOL to u with the new beater.

My third 911 and driven all year-round. Heck, I lived in the Twin Cities for 16 years (eh, Minnesota) and drove my first two there even in the snow (when it wasn't piled high and excluding blizzards), I even drove my supercharged E46 M3 'Vert year-round. Just enjoy the car and be wise where you park. On the other hand, seems the car may not be for you. G/L
I was really clear about my reasons. My initial wow factor wore off very quickly. I enjoy the car still, but I enjoy lots of cars including my 4runner and my Subaru outback. I thought I would still be giddy about it and now it is just a car,, albeit a very nice car. I would love it more if I tracked it or ax all the time. But honestly I don't have time for that and it was a lesson learned for me.
The stuff that didn't help
The stealership lied about my cpo car and it had many issues that they lied about. Condition of the car, a dying battery, pricing, etc. Most of this has been worked out but it was and is still a headache. Be careful of Walters Porsche in riverside. I had a tinter rip me off for some below average tint and caused me a headache. I had rims and interior custom painted by a custom painter and he did a below average job. I had a Denison unit installed and it failed a week later and had to pay more to have it trouble shooter and a major headache between Bumperplugs and my installer and Porsche.. I am tired of the crap taking place around my car and I no longer look at it with love. I feel taken advantage of and one thing after another has led me to the belief that I am just as happy with my 2005 4runner as my Porsche... I love Porsches and I am sure one day I will have another. but not now. Nobody's fault but my own.

From the description of your issues, it seems there were no real problems with the car, but your satisfaction with the level of performed services or faulty parts. But I see what you mean, sorry to hear it, I hope you come back soon.

You bought a 997 C2S and had it *tinted* and the *rims* and *interior* painted? I agree, you definitely bought the wrong car.
I bought an 06 C2S coupe 3 years ago, drive it almost every day and still sometimes smile when I start it up for my morning commute. Sure, I don't want anyone to ding it but worrying about that at the expense of FUN just makes no sense to me. If you want an investment buy stock not a car.
And as far as headache - I just put $2k+ into a Nissan Xterra last week for various issues. After 3 years the C2S has had 2 scheduled maintenance trips and a battery.
A totally big-boy position which I can appreciate. Good luck.
The thing is my love for Porsches has not changed. I think they are amazing vehicles. No offense to any Porsche owners out there. I just don't have the same amazing feeling I had from it a month or two ago. It might just be that I need a gt3
It is not going to be a collectors item. It is a CAR. Get out and drive it!! The first door ding and rock chip are the hardest. Once you get past that your life will be much better.
I drive my car daily. It goes to Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, and the grocery store just fine. Do I try to park where it won't get beat up? Sure I try but I don't get that choice.

+1.
I don't think anyone here takes offense. I think we all understand this just may not be the right car for you-- everyone is different.
The issue's you've been having are not directly "Porsche" problems. Instead, the unpleasant experiences you've had seem to be coloring your overall feeling of satisfaction with your car.
One thing I read between the lines in your posts is that sometimes, vendors will look at your Porsche and see $$$$$ in their eyes. A vendor who is not very skilled will still think that he/she can charge a premium just because the car is expensive; they think the owner must be accustomed to paying top dollar, so it's an opportunity for them to charge more. These guys should charge for their skill level, service, and quality of workmanship. If they've never worked on a Porsche before, they should charge less until they build up the expertise. Unfortunately this is the real world.
These cars can be magnets for people looking to make a buck. I have a similar experience with my house... I hate to call contractors or handy-men; I often joke that the price triples before they even ring the door bell. It can be the same with a Porsche (or any other high end car).
If you plan on keeping your Porsche, I suggest trying to avoid unpleasant experiences. Use your other cars as daily drivers or errand cars. When you take your Porsche out, take it out for a drive in the country or open road, not to run an errand that might take you to a populated parking lot with the stress of getting dings. Also, why don't you track it a little, since you suggested that might be more enjoyable for you?
One more suggestion... before you take the car to a vendor, search or post on this forum for suggestions of reputable shops. That will help you avoid the feeling of "buyer's remorse" for unsatisfactory services.

seriously tho, i am lil surprised since i heard good things about Walter's..I had a tinter rip me off for some below average tint and caused me a headache. I had rims and interior custom painted by a custom painter and he did a below average job. I feel most of ur 'headaches' could have been avoided if u found reputable shops/people to deal with re: tint, paint, & Dension install.
(BTW, i've had no prob with my Dension and Eric from Bumperplug has been great to deal with.. easy transaction and good customer service.)
also, this forum is a great place to seek info, ask questions and get advice.. (but not so good for complaining

i love driving my 911
I love looking at my 911
I even gave her a name.

(I even love washing mine)
hopefully, next time, u find a Pcar u love.
I drove about 6 hours in my marshmallow DD the other day. Got home and in 20 minutes was out again in my C2S, just because I love to drive it.
I guess that I'm just eaten up with this Porsche thing.
Maybe there is a 12 step program out there for me.
Use Tempest, find a 2003 TT and run the pizz out of it. If that doesn't do it, try naval aviation at night.
Good luck.
