Would you trade in your 2008 997.1 CS to a.....

2012 991 CS? I just finish doing a 997.2 front/rear conversion a couple of months ago and the car is absolutely mint with 8100 miles on it! When I was at the dealership, the dealership offered to buy my car for $67,000 and discount the new car 6%. I think its a great deal, I may lease it versus buying it, but when I drove it, It was great but I wasn't super impressed, love the looks inside and out but I'm torn on getting the new car.......
Sugestions?

For what I heard the program developing the new 991 was impressive and they put many miles on the test for this cars, different conditions, so for me is not an issue that is the first year production car!! go for it!

I'm curious, why did you elect to do the 997.2 upgrade and how much did it end up costing? Cool idea, but I'm surprised the dealer would offer money for a C2S that wasn't nearly OEM. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for... the 991 is an amazing daily driver.

It seems the dealer expects the 997 market to be pretty strong.

Hi Strashek, I did the 997.2 upgrade because I like the look of LED lights in the rear, I also like the cleaner look in the front. As far as cost, I got a great price from Suncoast Porsche with all OEM Porsche parts, so in reality it isn't nearly OEM, it's 100% OEM. It would be no different than the owners of 997.1 doing OEM GT3 front and rear bumper conversions or OEM Aerokits on their cars, just as long as its OEM and you have documents to prove the work. Im sure you will ask me how come I didn't do just aftermarket led front and rear lights, but I was never impressed with the quality or the figment of those products, also I think the front Rottec Turnsignals/Fogs/DRL look cheesy IMO. If I was to get the 991 it would just be a weekend car, thanks for your response.

Makes sense... I too like the LED lights. Suncoast are good guys as well. Right on.

I traded a '09 cs2 for a '12 s2. I had more miles on the cab but otherwise near mint. Dealer is listing the cab around $18k higher than trade-in inclusive of certification. Lot's of personal stuff in these cars and YMMV but I don't regret any aspect of the switch. BTW, the dealer flat out stated that the '13s are coming and thus they were willing to deal on the '12s as a result.

not for 2012 991, but for 2011 GTS with 6sp box - may be. but, it is a difficult decision, my car is cheaper and if dealer gives 36K something trade-in, it is a lot, like, close to $80k cash to pay the difference inclusing taxes, so, not sure if I care too much of anything GTS car has that mine does not have.

to get motor rebuilt with Jake Raby`s Flat6 shop and get extra 60-70hp costs $24K and after that rebuild it will last forever. other shops charge less, close to $10-$12K for similar rebuild. i think i will eventually do that, but right now power is enough, car runs fine, not sure why to even bother.

if 991 car would have a V10 motor with 600+ horses then by all means it would be a big gap in performance, but for what it is now - not sure. I do not like the idea of new gearbox, do not care about PDK, only good thing in 991 is its new motor but it has less ponies than same motor in the GTS car, plus GTS car fits all the aftermarket stuff that exists for 997 cars. and it is cheaper.
