How heavy should a stock 997s clutch feel?

I have been toying with buying a low mileage used 997s. Yesterday I went for m first test drive and the first thing I noticed was the extremely heavy clutch feel.

I currently drive a 6speed audi s5 and the clutch feels like it requires 3 times less effort to engage.

That doesn't sound right to me. I've never thought of the clutch in this car (07S) as heavy. Even the clutch in my prior Turbo didn't feel excessively heavy.

That's disappointing my search shall continue! I'll be taking a look at a 997 C4S this weekend. Hopefully it is in better shape.

Been pretty impressed with the clutch in general compared to older 911's and BMW/Mercs I've driven. Very civilized clutch.

My clutch is much "heavier" than any car I have ever driven. I killed it several times when I first got it trying to get used to the heavy clutch. Used to it now.

Not owned but driven. Other PCars for example. My brother in law has a Boxster and he finds my clutch heavy. I've driven a 997 S and the clutch was "normal" in feel. I thought it could because of mine being a 4S. I have 30k on the car now and it feels like it did when I got it with 18k on it.

in my opinion, the 997.1's clutch is heavier than the 997.2

I don't find the 997.1 clutch particularly heavy (compared to say a VW/Audi). During the Porsche Driving School last week - when I got to drive a new 991 Carrera S, I did find the clutch felt slightly lighter than in a 997. All told, I think I actually prefer the clutch in my 997.

Completely agree.

Also Porsche clutches are heavier in general. I've driven many 911's (997, 996, 993, original 911) all have a heavy clutch.

I'm comparing to: BMW 3/5/M's (Going from 80's-now), Audi A4/S4, VW Golf, Jetta, Beetle, MB's (older), Corvette's, Camero, (New Camero has the lightest clutch in the world, didn't like it at all) Mustangs. I've never driven a Ferrari/Lambo, so have no reference. I've even driven Semi's and tractor trailers, I find the clutch in my current 911 to be heavier than 99% of other commerical vehicles, that I've driven.

Perhaps there was nothing wrong with clutch? Did any of you have sore legs the first week of owning the car?

I doubt there is anything wrong with the clutch. When I first bought my 997.1, first week, I definitely noticed it. Especially since I drove it for practically 5 hours a day.

Take a GT2RS for a spin if you want to talk about a heavy clutch.

I feel like I'm getting a lower leg work out driving my Targa 4S. Also dive e46 for DD and its feels so soft after driving 997. The e46 feels normal after a few days of driving it. It is all relative to what you drove last.

Agree on the heavy clutch. Driven manuals all my life besides my cayenne and the 997 is the heaviest of the bunch. It feels solid to me but can wear on you in stop and o traffic

Heavy but not as heavy like a Gallardo.
