Carbon fiber hood wrap for 997 S...yea or nay?

Well, I'm just about fed up with the small but noticeable rock chips on the hood of my black '06 997 S Cab. I thought about re-spraying the hood, but I also like the look of the GT2 RS with the carbon fiber hood. I would LOVE to get a CF hood for my car, but I can think of better ways (other mods) to spend 6k on. Any thoughts on the wrap? Cost is about $350 and supposedly lasts for 4-6 years. Has anyone here done a CF wrap on their 997's hood? If you have pics, please post! Thank you!

I did a DIY Matte Black Hood wrap for a road trip back in March with $49.00 vinyl from PepBoys. It was intended to be on for only two weeks or so. Guess what, its sill on. I really like the look. However, the "cheaper" material isn't holding a solid black consistent color and is starting to streak. Thinking about having a Professional 3M job done on it soon.

PepBoy's also sells the Carbon Wrap if you want to do a DIY test run before going for the "real deal". If you go carbon, be sure to view some sample installs from your installer. Getting the weave to lay down in nice straight lines is the tricky part. I have seen some really bad "wavy" jobs out there.

Good luck and be sure to post some pic's when you get it done.

VID.. i have the 3M and its holding strong but check SWISSVAX i think it is. They make a MATTE wrap WAX. Kinda pricey but it makes it look fresh and new and i believe it has UAV protection. Just a thought. My detailer did it to mine.

I feel like that look is getting long in the tooth, so probably wouldn't myself. Would have a year ago, maybe.

Likewise. If you want a carbon fiber hood, buy a hood they're pretty cheap. If you want a clean look, paint the hood. The one in the above photo does look great. Just my .02.

PLEASE let me know where you can buy a (GOOD) carbon fiber hood for a 997 for "pretty cheap"???!!!
The only ones I have seen are the oem hoods that go for about $6k!! I can think of a lot of mods to do for my car with $6k!
Thanks!!!

I have found numerous (at least 3) carbon hoods for under $1,400. You too can find them with simple searches.
