New DCT Motorsports Steering Wheel

Just finished installing my new steering wheel from DCT Motorsports on my '06 997.1. I am very impressed with the overall quality of the product and man it feels great in my hands.

I was looking for something somewhat modest as the interior is somewhat modest. I ordered a sport wheel with thicker foam, perforated leather on the sides and silver stitching to match the silver accents on the wheel.

The before and after shots.

Before - original sport wheel

DCT does a great job. Yours looks super. I've had my DCT wheel for about 6 months now and it still looks and feels great.

Enjoy it!

Slicky,

DCT will build the wheel to your specifications.Almost anything your want they can do. I chose to go fairly conservative. They will then send you the wheel, you remove yours, install the new one and send your original wheel back.

For my wheel it was ~$400

Do a search on this site and you'll find more info and many pictures.

Best,

Matt

Interesting. Does it feel $400 different? I just refinished mine for around $40 and ... well... it too looks brand new too.

I'll bite. What did you do to your wheel to spruce it up ? Mines got a few miles on it and could use a little TLC.

It's way more than a sprucing up. It's a brand new wheel. It's thicker and has a better look. Man, my wheel was in perfect shape (I'm a detailing nut) but this wheel not only dresses up the interior it makes the car more fun to drive. $400, easy money for the improvements but to each their own.

I am also interested in hearing about your $40 improvements because my wife's Boxster wheel is looking old.

Best,

Matt

WTF! How did you get it for a $400? Everything they sell is a grand and with core returned.

I purchased the Leather World leather refinishing kit. It was simple to do even though it took several days to get the multiple coats and then seal it up. After 13 years it was slightly visibly worn on the top half of the wheel and the e-brake handle.

Have been on their site and seen the kit. Don't suppose you took before and after pics ? If not, an after pic would be great.

Send Ivan at DCT a note. For my wheel for $400 I had a choice of leather (color and perforation), thicker (which makes it feel like a proper sports car wheels) and choice of stitching color (I chose silver to match the silver accents of the sports wheel). He does this straight forward changes for $400 all day. It's well worth it IMHO.

Best,

Matt

If you chose the 'flat bottom' and "thicker sides' it'll cost a few bucks more.
