GT3 Front Bumper Conversion & Downforce

I'm going to continue to mod the Carrera and I was looking at ordering an OEM GT3 front bumper and noted "Porsche does not recommend installing this bumper without adding a rear spoiler". Does anyone know if the ducktail provides sufficient downforce to address this?

I'm also planning on the GT3 conversion with Fabspeed's center exhaust. Given concerns with the high miles on my car I've abandoned the turbo prospect. I figure when it's time I'll have the 3.6 built and punched out.

I'm trying to mod the car along the lines of the Ruf-look for the 991, or something like it:

I currently have the OEM GT3 bumper and Misha's "ducktail". I can say that it's very stable at the speed that you may be thinking of, in my experience. The front and back end never felt light. The only time I felt the car get slightly twitchy, was with a 10-15 mph cross wind.

I think you should go for it.. i wanted to go the same route, but then opted for the sport classic front conversion (just because i thought it wont be done alot).. But you can never go wrong with the GT3 front bumper..

I agree... go for it... if you can get close to the look of that RUF you'll be set. I would think that the duck tail would balance out the GT3 front end. Post pics when done.

Can you post a picture depicting both the duck tail and GT3 bumper?

Looks ok, but not something I would do to my GTS. If I do any upgrades to my car I would do the oem aerokit rear spoiler as it would match the special front spoiler of the GTS and a 5 lug conversion. I really like the look of the op's fake ruf wheels.

Thanks. The "replica" wheels are actually lighter (although not by much) than original Ruf, and there's the benefit of being TUV certified. I love the duck tail look but I'm trying to decide on matching it with the GT3 front. My other concern is not wasting money on sub-par parts. I'm not worried about the front since it's OEM, on the other hand, Suncoast wants $5K for the sport front bumper and rear wing, versus just over $2.1K for the GT3 front and a little over $1K for a duck tail. Decisions.

Hi

I have the OEM Aerokit and am thinking of removing/changing the rear wing. Could you post pics of your car.

Many thanks.

Just FYI, the only thing being TUV certified means is that those wheels are "pre" approved for use in Germany and deemed "safe" for German roads including high speed autobahns. Without being TUV certified, the mod would fail the TUV safety inspection. If a product is intended for use in Germany, getting it TUV certified is a must. I would not say it necessarily specifies a quality difference, but most assuredly meets a minimum safety standard. TUV certification has no relevance outside Germany. Due to strict TUV standards, modding cars in Germany is not nearly as common as elsewhere.

I've been very pleased with my GT3 Kit from Tony at Precision Porsche in LA. Just a thought. Check out my pics.
