CEL after 3rd radiator install
CEL after 3rd radiator install
Installed 3rd radiator this morning. Everything is tight, no leaks, install seems OK. While refilling and purging system CEL came on. Refilled about what I would have expected considering coolant loss while fitting the radiator and the .5 gal the added radiator needs. Any thoughts on cause of CEL and if it will clear itself after driving ? Light is constant and not blinking. Have not replace bumper and related parts yet. Also have new cap that has not been installed yet as I figured to wait until system was completely purged. Any thoughts from those who have done the install or are familiar with CEL issues would be appreciated.

CELs are always related to fuel/intake system. An air leak or fuel vapor leak to a bad cat due to emissions control unit (bad O2 sensors, etc) it's not linked to the coolant system, radiators or fans... maybe you kick one of the fuel tank vapor lines out of whack.
A code reader could be handy.

JHB...Don't have a code reader handy. Could be a good reason to buy a Durametric tool though.
Joel... Will start with the fuel tank vapor lines if you would kindly direct me to their location. What I could see with wheels still in place and only the forward most wheel well liners removed all appeared secure but removing them could have jared something loose I'm not seeing. Cleaned the MAF 2 weeks ago but no CEL since the radiator install this AM.

Most national auto parts stores (advance, auto zone, oreilly's, etc.) will read codes for free (some will reset them too if you ask nicely - though CEL may immediately come back on after initial warm up depending on what cause is). Save yourself time and swing by one to get code read. This way, you'll have a better idea as to even which end of the car to start with...
Good luck

If you don't have a reader, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, take the gas cap out, put it back and re connect the battery. Vapor leaks on the recirculating area are on the passenger side front wheel. check to see if anything (small hard tubes) are loose...
I did the 3rd radiator upgrade on my previous 2005 C2S. I never had any issues. I'm sure it'll be small when you figure it out.

Alright, did reset as Joel suggested and all is well. Had a number of messages about headlights, corner lights, etc.. that went away as well. Gona' get a Durametric tool 'cause I would have liked to know what caused the cel. But, all is well at this point. Thanks for talking me through it.
