Moving on from the 911.

After spending the last 4 years divided between a 997.1 Turbo and Carrera S, it is with a heavy heart that I will be moving on for a period of time to a different brand.

My local BMW dealership is giving me 46k trade on my 05 C2S launch and knocking 8k off the price of a 550i X drive. At this time with three young ones it makes sense to consolidate my winter and summer rigs into something that can be used year round.

I certainly will miss my 911 and I guarantee I will be back (hopefully in a 991 Turbo). To ease any hesitancy, my wife has given me the go ahead to purchase the Dinan Stage 2 tune which puts the fat girl up at 500 hp and close to 600 ft/lbs of torque (this thing pulls like a train stock, so I will keep you posted on the post flash results).

Here's a website for you to check into as another resource for all things Bimmer:

www.bimmerforums.com

Not as well laid out as this awesome forum, but some pretty decent info on modding your car over there and great people as well. I used it quite often when sorting out issues and looking for fixes on my M Roadster before I became a Porschephile.

Congrats on your new ride!

Have fun with the 550. My buddy just got a new 535i M-Sport, and I traded my '09 E90 M3 for my '07 Carrera S last week. You'll enjoy the usability of the 5er, but you'll miss the insane cornering speeds of the 911.

Tell us how much you paid for that launch car? You were accusing me of being 10 grand above market, and I was selling for $51,000 (which was the offer I posted to you). Did you get your car for $40,000? Basically with the tax savings I got $51,000 which is pretty fair as I cancelled the remaining 2 years of extended warranty I had on the car which brought back another $1500 to me.

Nice, mine is an M-Sport model as well, it is surprisingly well composed for a chunky car with those electronic dampers.
