clearbra removal
clearbra removal
I have an arctic silver, 07 CS. I bought it CPO several months back. I'm considering removing the clearbra, which has a few rough edges, and looks to be SUBTLY discolored. I've never applied or removed a clear bra. Is this something I can just peel off myself? Is there anything of which I need to be aware? Should I leave this to the professionals?
I am also planning to have the rock guards replaced, which are definitely discolored. I suppose I could have both done at the same time. Would the dealer do these things?
Thanks.
Kevin

you can peel it off, gently. I replaced my rear quarter guards and made my own rocker panel and fender guards. I bought material from autoguard installer and he also pre cut the quarters for me. i got Solar Guard material from him. Its the best he says. Its virtually invisable
Just removed ClearMask from my (new to me) '09 C4S due to it having been abraded in a near-accident.
I used a hair/blow-dryer to warm up the adhesive as I was peeling it back. Too much heat and the adhesive melts back onto the bumper, not enough heat and the darned stuff is *much* harder to peel.
It's not an easy removal, and requires some elbow grease on the larger areas. I then needed to also use some 3M adhesive remover (went through a few rags) after the fact. When done, it was as good as new, and ready for new ClearMask.

Win-Win in my book.
2nd.
Had mine done by a very reputable local shop and it's almost completely undetectable. Full custom install with no lines on the hood, roof, a pillars, side mirrors, front fenders and bumper for around $1,300 ish. Looks perfect.
