BE ( LATED) introduction to my 997

Been participating in the forums for a little while and never threw up some pics of the 997 I picked up! After a bit of searching found a low mileage 06 911 6sp and have had her for 2 months already. Car has sport / pasm package otherwise not many other options.

Came from e92 335i -- GREAT car all around but with an auto box and no kids yet decided to make the plunge into the world of Porsches. I do miss the 335i torque but less then a year into the cars ownership I felt very 'disconnected' with the BMW. The compromises definitely came with the 911 (less storage space, worse stereo, more road noise etc) but I have learned to adapt and appreciate the car for what it was designed to be. First time owning a 'silver' car as all of my previous cars tended to be darker hues. Love the silver now - easy to upkeep, keep clean and it really does 'pop' with a few black accents around the vehicle.

One of the better perks of P ownership? I would say the people. Have met a number of great individuals (p owners of course) around the Scottsdale area that have been a blast to talk to and get to know - all through sharing a common passion for a great brand.

Its been great to get to know everyone on the forums as well and have received tons of help already concerning the vehicle.

Here are some pictures (when bought) and a few mods later including 19" Avant Garde matte black rims, matte black 911 badge and 5% tint all around. Next up is powder coating 911S tips and potentially wrapping the 'diffuser' between the exhaust in carbon fiber wrap, painting calipers red and a drop. Happy to be part of the p club now

Yeah I saw that you picked up the 911S - beautiful car. Can't wait to see what you do with it as your silver one was gorgeous!! You are correct the pictures are on Legacy...just north of the P dealer.

Correct - I recently purchased a set of the S tips and currently getting them powder coated flat black. I spray painted them myself last weekend and was just not happy 100% with the results I got.

Congrats on ownership the car looks amazing as well as the write up was great to read. I would go with the H&R OE Sport Springs. The OE Sport Springs offer a mild lowering to cleanup that "too high-rally-stock look." Stock ride comfort is retained.

y'know, i lived in scottsdale from 1969 (hayden & cholla, the only house on the corner...still) till 1988 and my driving memories(not really fond)(THAT sounds wierd) were 99% north/south or east/west, hardly ever more than 45mph and hardly EVER more than 4 blocks at a time without a stop light or sign, except going north on scottsdale road in the late 60's when there was a stop light at camelback and a flashing red stop light at shea... had to get out into the desert, north to prescott, payson, west to wickenberg, east to globe, ahhh, some great rides there, but i was driving a vw bus w/36hp and a 54 chevy(jackson browne, late for the sky cover)...sorry couldn't resist, didn't miss a porsche back then, would now...

My bad.

Your car will look 100% better with S tips. Should look awesome in flat black. Can't wait to see the pics.

Yes, purchased a set on ebay - OEM S tips. I do have another thread on that subject here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...7-1-non-s.html

I tried to install it myself - but the adapter ring (bought separately) that goes over the stock pipe to adjust for the difference in diameters between S and non S tips was a tad bit too snug to get it on myself and I did not want to damage the stock pipes / ring with a hammer etc so gonna end up taking it to a muffler shop or similar to get put on.

I hope you don't have to park your car in what looks like an apartment complex in the first pic.

its probably a condo complex & even if it was an apartment complex how is that any of your business? Maybe not everyone is big baller like you & lives in a Villa!

I live in a condo, we have Lambo-Porsche-Bentley & several Benz & BMWs so not sure what your point is.

ps: you can't buy class or tact & thats for sure!

Black accents on silver is a terrific way to dress up a conservative color. Great job!
