Very interesting! There is a beautiful looking spare on ebay for $229 plus shipping, but its a smaller size than the one you have shown on your car. The ebay one is 195/80 17. I suppose since many of us have 19", we're better off searching for 195/75 18's like yours?

Point of caution: I don't think these won't fit w/ PCCB's.

this was my solution:

It's the 996 turbo collapsible tire. Doesn't take too much room and the wheel is aluminum, so the tire weights nothing... $79 for the spare and $49 for the spare kit: jack, wrench and foam insert. you've got to love ebay.

Joe, is that an 18" or 19" equivalent? I'll have to weigh my factory spare as its never been out of the frunk. The Touareg system is great but it requires the onboard compressor which is a heavy system.

It's 17" collapsible that goes to 19" equivalent.

Hi Joe, So this 996 Turbo emergency spare will fit on a 997.2 Carrera 2? The Turbo wheel being deeper for brake clearance I suppose?
Have you had to use it yet? Just curious how it fits etc

thanks,

Mike

Hi Joe,

I guess the 996 Turbo Emergency Spare is a deeper wheel to fit over larger brakes? So it should work on 997.2 Carrera... Have you had to use this set up yet?

I'm looking for a spare set up also..

regards,

Mike
