Best Exhaust Header for Carrera S

Hi folks

I have the itch to modify my exhaust. I purchased a Borla exhaust which made the car too loud, so off it came. Now I am thinking headers for a bit more power out of my Carrera S. Problem is there are different styles out there, and everyone says their's is the best. Most manufacturer's have one style (running from 1200-1700), and NXP has the porsche X-51 style headers (900). Any thoughts?

My opinion is that you won't gain any power by just replacing the headers. The new headers will be less restrictive than your current headers, but you'll still have restrictive cats downstream. And, I doubt that headers alone will change the sound of your exhaust. Also, when removing the old headers, there's a 50% chance that you'll snap off at least one of the 12 manifold bolts - so it's a risky job for a do-it-yourselfer.

I would have to agree that replacing your headers will not make a noticeable difference in the butt dyno arena, despite Dyno showing otherwise. Now, if you replace the headers and CATs together, along with a Tune, then you may feel an improvement. Honestly, if you want to feel a night and day difference, I would suggest you look into forced induction. Having said that, an X-51 header is just as good as any other headers out there. It's just not as shiny as the others, that's all .

I have also looked at the NXP headers, they look to be exact copies of the X51 Porsche headers but made with SS. From every dyno result the X51 is the best, seems to work a little better on the S with the 3.8 but as stated it is only a few HP, and without the ground clearence problems. I wanted it because it is suposed to sound realy nice with my PSE.

Do you have other Cargraphic exhaust pieces?

Their headers/cats are a work of art

I bought Top Speeds on eBay. Sound great. $250 roughly. My mechanic said he had problems making them fit tried to resolve the issue with Top Speed, Top Speed was amenable, but my mechanic was pissed that I had called them. The arrogance was really annoying.

Don't know for sure what the problem was, but I paid for whatever the incremental $220 problem was. I don't know whether there really was a problem or my mechanic was grousing on a quote, that didn't honor from the get go.

I'd give Top Speed the chance given, they were receptive and my mechanic was less so on finding out what the issue was. They said they have been in business 16 years with very limited problems and they will always work with a situation if before anything is done they get a call. Sounds fair, just tell your mechanic if there is a problem, before doing anything call them first.

Here's a complete Fabspeed setup on an 05 c2s.

Equal length long tube headers, valves mufflers, 200 cell Hi-flow X-cats = AWESOME.
