Hot Smell

Whenever I park my car (2008 C2 with 30000 miles) in the garage after a drive (30-40 mins), I smell something hot eminating from the engine (through the rear deck lid). Today was no exception, (temperatures were around high 30s and low 40s). There is no smoke, no strong burning smell. Just hot smell. Is this something normal?

They replaced the clutch/pressure plate and supposedly the flywheel about 1000 miles ago. Maybe related?

I am relatively new to these cars (moved from BMW M cars).

Thanks

I get it too. Was worried about it and found out from these forums that it is some coating applied at the factory.

Wife noticed it for the first time this past weekend when we were driving around Asheville.

It is usually more noticable after spirited driving.

Cosmoline. It's a corrosion inhibitor used on the exhaust system.

I myself am new to the 911 and was wondering the same thing, so I am glad you asked. I notice it after spirited driving only.

Thanks everyone. I am glad it is normal.
But, I do smell this after a normal drive. Not a 'spirited' one.. If I drive in spirited manner I smell it lot more.

Thanks
