PPI from selling p dealer bad idea???
Apologies for a noob question here, but if you are buying a used p car from p dealer, how do you approach PPI? Would you trust them to do it? There is obviously a conflict of interest? If not, would dealer let you take the car to mechanic or dealer of choice? Would appreciate some experiences. I'm looking into 1995 993.
Also, do you have good mechanic recommendations? in northern New Jersey

No, you don't trust them.
PPI are pretty standard, specially on high end cars. Most dealer ask for a deposit and a release/insurance form.
Make a deposit on the car, look for local shop that can do the PPI, take it and then decide. it worth every penny. (I did 4 PPI before i found the car i was happy with).

yeah, agree with everyone here. When I brought mine. I put down a deposit, made the dealer state in the contract that if there are any problems found in the PPI, I can get a full refund. Then I had one of their sales guy drive it to another Porsche dealer and get a PPI. I talked to the mechanic who did the PPI and asked him to email me the results and asked for his opinion. When everything was good, I flew out to check out the car for any scratches, dings, etc.

here s the dealer I bought from.... over 1500 miles. They held the car pending my inspection. It was a cpo so I wasn t as worried. If your other car doesn t work out ask for Jarrod. He ll settle all the details to make you comfortable.
