I need a helmet for track day. Where is the best place to buy? What is the best kind to buy? Any other comments/suggestions?

search is your best friend.. =)

here are couple to get u started.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...06-helmet.html

make sure u have up-to-date helmet

obviously, u can save money if u buy on line..

but i would suggest buying locally if its your first time, so u can try on different helmets and determine if u want open face, size, etc etc

apexperformance.com is a great online place to buy. you can talk to them for fitting if this is your first helmet. mine pyrotec fit was dead on and they had the helmet shipped to me directly from the factory to expedite it. great service

they have a 10% discount too. mention 6speed

Simpson website has lots of options in different price ranges and can spread out the payments over a couple of months. No affiliation - that's just where I got my stuff ... Ended up going crazy and getting a full suit, gloves and shoes to go with the helmet.

At the advice of my dealer (only occasional DE days, no racing), I bought mine from a motorcycle shop. Check with your local region to find out their requirements. I got mine for about $150.

Yeah, I'm thinking a few hundred dollars ought to do it.

The Zamp FSA-2 is a good SA-2010 certified helmet for under $200. Google it.

Different manufacturers use different moulds for the inside fit, which means that some helmets will fit you nicely and comfortably and some might not. Saeyedoc’s suggestion to visit a motorcycle store to at least try on different helmets is a good idea. That way you can find out which manufacturer makes helmets that fit your head shape best.

Best way to shop for a helmet: Go to shops and try them on to find one that fits your head well.

Best helmet to buy: One that fits your head well.

This is not rocket science.
