These faults can happen from other reasons such as grounding and or power supply etc. Softronic had been working with the Op on expectations of information being sent to us and not on forums as we have not charged him as of now for any work provided nor have we set a price for a final flash for others. Softronic does require factual info to be sent to us as requested to further analyze any file for further adjustments. All work that has been done has been in fact custom tuning based on the Op's info . Softronic has asked for other info that has not been available yet we have worked on what we have received. The last file has been set to what the Op requested in AFR's. Im sure we can get what he or any other owner requests on a custom tune done.
I replied to your email Scott, I only get the cel on the new X51map, am running the first X51 softronic tune you did me which was a bit rich with no cels.

Like Scott says he has not charged me anything, I did not disclose this as Scott requested me not to do so until we'd actually finished and got the car right. Of course it's not been easy being in different countries and not being able to supply Scott the exact info he needs.

For me my car was running too lean due to the air box change as the aperture where the maf sits is larger allowing 12% more air volume, so most important for me was correcting this which the X51 map did, it also improved sub 4000rpm throttle response too. Unfortunately there was a small power loss between 4000-7000rpm, no doubt because a little to rich. Now Scott did me a new tune with a target AFR of 13.5 but for some strange reason it's throwing P0140, P0160, P0141 and P0161 codes after a day or two.

Like others here my mods are:-
X51 air box with BMC filters
GT3 throttle body
Eurocup carbon plenum
X51 manifolds
200 cel high flow nhp straight cats
PSE
X51 radiators

My intention is to dyno the stock Airbox against the X51 Airbox at some point, whilst both using the 82mm throttle body but of course stock Airbox with regular softronic tune and X51 Airbox with X51 softronic tune.

rcusick is infamous around these parts
I have issues with with the x51 air box and headers in stop and go traffic with softronic tune. Car seems to be under powered at low speeds - maybe variocam problem? Car can't seem to adjust throttle response effectively - sometimes too much power. Sometimes not enough. Wonder if I should go from softronic to a custom tune?

I personally think many other companies, like Promotive or EPL, do a much better Job of tuning Porsches. Softronic in my opinion puts profit ahead of quality work and service!

I just spoke with Scott (from Softronic) and he is assisting me with my tune as well. Scott is very knowlegable about our cars and I feel completely comfortable with him adjusting my tune. Crossing my fingers I get it before the weekend for a PCA event. I'll keep all of you posted on the results.

While I do love my Protomotive tune I completely disagree with this statement. Scott spent and hour with me on the phone just discussing porsches in general and then on to more specific options for my car. And then, AFTER I chose Protomotive and had some issues flashing the car, he spent a lot of time with me trying to fix the problem. I have never given him a dime. I have also seen many posts here where he has done the same for others. I dont know why he gets soooo much abuse on this site, probably because of the really high numbers claimed on his tune. Other than that, I dont see any problems. He has a ton of happy clients, so he is doing something right. I know for a fact that another 6speeder bricked his ECU because he flashed without a battery charger connected, Scott fixed this guys ecu at no charge, and overnighted it back to him, no charge.

My 2 cents...

+1 for Talisman's post

I agree with Talisman! I talked with Scott for a while this morning as he was on his way out of town and I mentioned I had a PCA event this weekend and that I'd love to try out the X-51 tune. Well, I got the new file within 2 hours. That's service!

i currently have the following and experienced ....

200 cell cats with pse.. i felt the power gains but the car lost its deep tone and sounded terrible.. was too raspy

addedd awe equal length headers.. now the car has more grunt and feels more free flowing... pretty damn loud too

i want to know if i add a gt3 throttle body and comp plenum if i am going to feel gains.. i am getting turned off my the op's dyno results i dont see gains with these parts.. i do not want to get an ecu tune either

If I where you, based my experience with these cars, I would not add the throttle body or plenum. If you add these without the tune it will feel like a loss of power because there will be too much air coming in. With that said,I noticed a big difference from stock with just the cats, headers and tune.

Since I own a Porsche and I have Softronic, I decided to write something about this comment"

I have Softronic in my 997 TT and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER with it, I had a problem the first time I flash my car because my Internet connection when down and I didn't know wtf I was doing... Next day SCOTT call me and asked me to send him my DME so he could fix it for me. I sent it to him, he fixed and sent it back to me (overnight) and he didn't even charge me for the overnight shipping.... So I strongly believe this is BS, Scott doesn't put profit ahead quality....

I'm very but very satisfy with my Tune file, my car is a monster!!! I race Ferrari 458 and Nissan GTR many times and my car is way faster only with a Techart exhaust and Softronic.

Softronic is BY FAR the most popular tune for the 997 TT, we just did a poll and Softronic got 50/ of the votes... So I'm sure a lot of people agree with me.

What do you think to the new tune m8 and what fuel rating do you use?

Haven't had the chance to load it yet, but will be heading to a DE event on Saturday to test it out. I'll load it up maybe today If I have time and post a full review in this thread early next week.

i had the chance to add a bmc filter but i did not feel with would add any power plus i did not like how it was oiled.. can create problems with the maf

i am pretty satisfied with the power with 3.8 produces.. i never floor it in 1st gear but recently i was bored so gave it a shot and quick shift into 2nd and i was surprised just how fast the car was.. i can bet with a lwfw i could really be onto something.

the reality is that i know this is not a gt3 and i do not want to get way over my head on this car. i have set up the car with rss motor mounts and plan to add coilovers in the future.

i currently have dog bones and toe links sitting under my bed eagerly waiting install.. the reaon why i felt it made sense to get them is that i know they can be transferred onto my next 997! plan to get a gt2 down the road.

the value i would add to this thread is that if you plan to get performance cats you better save up for headers.. you will need them for the car to sound right.. also try to find parts used no need to spend crazy money

I agree 100% on the cat/header combo. Doesn't sound good with just the cat upgrade from my experience. Now on to the good stuff. I loaded the new Softronic x-51 tune from Scott last night and took the car out for a spin and I must say that the difference is very noticable on the butt dyno (NO CEL by the way). The car now pulls from 2500 to 7500 atleast 30% stronger than a car (stock 997 s) in SC mode from 5500 to 7000. Hard to really explain, but the car is so much better now. I'm taking her to Eagles Canyon Raceway this weekend to push her to the limits and I will update my review early next week. My run group is full of GT3's (RS and Non RS) so I will be able to gage the perfomance from them (straight line anyway).

Look forward to it, did you find throttle response improved greatly too?

Track day was amazing! The responsiveness of the car is fantastic through the entire power band. I had no trouble hanging with the .1 gt3's and passed several 991 S cars in the straights. Overall I'm very happy with the results of the Softronic X-51 tune.
