Hey folks, new member/poster here.

I bought a 997.1 with upgraded tail lights - Rottec LEDs.
Recently the left tail stopped working and the error message on the dash reflects that. All the other functions are fine (brake light, reverse, fog), only the tail light is out.
To add to the confusion, it happened sporadically at first but now it's out for good, seems like.

I checked the wiring and it seems fine - I swapped the right and left lights and confirmed that the wiring is good, because the results were the same. I even tried swapping the short wiring harness that comes with the lights to rule that out - same thing, regardless of wiring or position the left tail is acting up.

I read a few posts about these lights having issues and about 3% being bad. I must have gotten one of those. Could something be loose inside the light enclosure? Can I fix this somehow? I had my Porsche mechanic look at it but they were clueless too.

I contacted Rottec (Jessica) and gave them a serial number and pictures, but they've been slow to respond after initially saying they needed to "submit a claim to the factory". Anyone else had to go thru a replacement process with them?

Makes me feel skittish about ordering their front fogs which I was gonna do. Anyone heard of any issues with those?

I had a similar issue, although mine just had few LEDs out on both sides.
I was asked to take pictures, and the claim went through. It took a little time, but I've received new lights. And that was after one year of usage!
Very happy with new lights and the service received.

 

This is why I won't swap my tails for LED. Always BS to deal with this stuff. OEM FTW

 

Well, it's been another week and no progress update yet after an initial contact.

But, since then, my right brake light is now coming up with an error too. Seems like just the corner section doesn't light up on braking. Go figure...

I'll keep you posted...
