Cutters68 : re: CPO details; We all hope you get a good outcome. We assume PCNA will try to the do the right thing, but the CPO for older cars is 24 months and the warranty and the ownership history are not clear from your posts. I was told by my salesman the the CPO coverage is worth about $4800 on the value of a re-sale car. You put 23k miles on the '05 (the car is + seven years old) or is the total mileage 23k ?
I purchased my '05 on 3/31/11 from Porsche of Omaha. It had 9,800 miles and a CPO 24 months/100,000. Car had 23,580 miles when IMS failed on 4/16/13. 16 days past warranty expiration.

I usually look upon class-actions with a skeptical eye, but the IMS one is totally justified. Huge shame on Porsche for not covering every single failure 100%, because every single failure is so obviously 100% their fault. They should be made to prove, in court, exactly how any owner could possibly cause an IMS failure. If the dealer in this case does ask for him to pay anything, before doing so, I'd go over their head and contact PCNA directly. Why should he have to pay labor to correct something that is Porsche's fault?

Happy ENDING!!!

I got a great phone call this morning from Bob Simon at Bergstrom Porsche. All my fears regarding this ordeal are gone. Porsche is paying 100% parts and labor. I'll pick up my 991S this weekend. Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement. It has been a bit of a stressful week to say the least.

My decision now is that they are offering an extended comprehensive warranty (Nationwide) which will cover my new car for 3 years beyond the manufacturer's 4 year for $4950. Warranty would transfer to new owner if I sold or I could cancel at anytime and be refunded prorated amount. Thoughts? I do plan to keep this car for a while, but I have said that about my last three cars too. I mean it this time

Wow, Congrats!!!! That is great news. You know yourself best. I know that I have never kept a car for four years. For me, I wouldn't use the extension. But that's just me. Do what your gut tells you and you'll be fine.

Fantastic!!!

As for the insurance - I personally wouldn't do it. All dealers try to sell those plans because they make a higher margin on them than just about anything else they can sell. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Awesome news
I would not buy the extended warranty.
That can always be purchased at a later time and you can shop around.
Now, just enjoy your car and the 4 years of warranty are included so you have 4 years to decide which way to go on that

Glad everything worked out and they came through What a relief off of your shoulders. I think after what you just went through, I would do the extended warranty but try to get them to knock down the price a bit. As mentioned in the post above do what your gut is telling you. Can't wait to see the new ride.

Great news on the car. As far as an extended warranty it would be a coin toss. How many miles will be included in the 3 year warranty and will the miles start after the Porsche warranty ends? The gen 2 engines and transmissions have been pretty much bullet proof.
