Black paint any better?

I bought a black Acura TL years ago and sold it after 2 years swearing I'd never buy another black car. I love the look but hate how hard it is to keep clean and new. Now I'm looking for a newer 997 and there are more black cars than anything. Are they just as hard to keep clean or is there some sort of new undercoat or sealant that makes the finish on these new cars easier to maintain?

Black paint = labor of love. Acura or Porsche.

You could consider Basalt Black, which has some metallic particles making dust less obvious, but in the bright light,, swirls will always appear.

Short answer. No.

I have two black cars. After I bought my daily driver, I said never again. Then I got my 997, in black. Now I'm telling myself again.......never again. We'll see what happens.

Porsche nonmetallic black paint is considered one of the most difficult paints to correct by most all detailers. Once the paint is perfectly corrected you can apply 22PLE to help reduce marring.

Tough to keep clean, but you can't beat that sparkling mirror look (albeit, it only last for a few hours) after a wash.

+1, I think I'm done too, red, white, and blue. I'm too **** and OCD to do black again. I have a silver car and it has not been wax for over 3 years, best part, no visible swirls in any light. I never feel good after a wash with black car, there always seems to be something wrong. With a silver car, I get total satisfaction after a wash.

^^^ I love my basalt black especially after wash but it does not last that long. Dust film accumulates and is visible within a day of driving.

+1. My black -06 took me at least an hour to wash and dry and still only looked ok at best. Always looked terrible again the next day though. Meteor gray is as easy as silver. Looks new after each wash and stays that way unless rain soaked roads mess it up. And even then it still looks better than a black car with a week's worth of dust on the surface.

Acura, Porsche, any car actually.

"black paint = there's no substitute!" Oh, wait, I think that was already taken by Porsche.
