Code P2402

2007 Carrera w/ 34k Miles

On my way to work this morning, the Check Engine light came on. Car drove perfectly fine still, no change in driving characteristics.

Scanned the code and got this:

P2402 - Evaporative emission system leak detection pump control circuit high.

I think this might mean I need a new leak detection pump? Or might it be something else? Hoping someone else on here has had this code before and can lend some insight.

Thanks

others might chime in but here is what the code means (to porsche, anyway):

P2402
DMTL – Tank Leakage Diagnostics Module, pump output stage
Diagnostic conditions

Supply voltage 10 V ... 16 V
Engine start

Possible fault causes

Open circuit, short circuit to B+ or short circuit to ground of activation line for DMTL pump motor
Open circuit in the power supply to the DMTL

DMTL – Tank Leakage Diagnostics Module faulty

DME control module faulty

I had this issue before. You may want to check your gas cap or replace it if rubber ring is worn/cracked. I went to the dealer and they ran a diagnosis, found out small leaks from O rings (they didn't state where) and replaced gas cap too. You can try to tighten up your gas cap and drive your car to see if the error will be corrected itself. I went to the dealer because the error code indicated emission canister faulty-told by 3rd party porsche shop (If it's emission canister, it may be still under warranty, depends on which state you are in)
hope this helps

most likely gas cap wasn't put on right, happens to my suby and Honda on occasion. take cap off and reinstall, the check engine light will take a few days to disappear but always does.

thanks for the reply guys, i'll tighten the gas cap and possibly even replace that, as thats way cheaper than a leak detection pump lol

Reviving this older thread - I had this CEL message pop up, right upon refueling at a Chevron. Went home and used an Innova OBD II and the error code was P2402. Car ran fine prior and ran just as great despite the message and error code. I reset it prior to a drive today and now the code is gone (never came back) and have since put 250 hard spirited driving miles through the car.

My question is was this just a fluke etc or should I bring it in to the dealer or Indy to have check out anyway? I checked all gas/oil caps were already tightened.

Also, if this was a legitimate problem wouldn’t the light come back on , despite my resetting it ?

‘This is on my 997.2 with 47k miles btw..
Thanks for any and all feedback.
