997.1 3.6 or 3.8?
997.1 3.6 or 3.8?
Hi guys,
I know this question has been asked a lot, but i really have trouble choosing between 2 cars in the same pricerange.
The first a basalt black 2005 997.1 3.6 6-speed manual around 50k miles full option Xenon lights PASM suspention 19" rims, Sports exhaust, PCM 2.1 Nav,Bose sound, heated seats, parking aid... the only visual difference with the S model are the brakes.
The second a silver 2005 997.1 S 3.8 tiptronic with around 70k miles.
Xenon and PASM are standard, also with nav and bose speakers. No other options.
Both cars are in an Official Porsche center and in a very good condition.
I'm leaning towards the 3.6: less miles more options and lower taxes in Belgium.
Are the better brakes and the 30 extra horses on the S really worth it?
I like to drive sporty
but not on track, also it will be my daily driver.
Please let me know what you think.

Take the car with the lower mileage. The tiptronic in the S is also a negative. Get an independent inspection of the car and examine the service records & other provenance. Good luck & welcome to the forum.
Great choice! I have a "base" 3.6 Carrera. It has plenty of power and the 30 extra horsepower are very nice but don't make a huge difference. Plus I think the manual with the 3.6 make for a fantastic combination. Enjoy!
Thanks! I just bought the car! (The 3.6) the 3.8 had the normal tiptronic. Not zo much fun to drive. I'm really happy with my choice. My Chicco child seat is also a good fit in the rear! (Convinced my wife with the argument that i'm buying a sporty family car )
