Pricing on an 06 2S Cab
Usually Authorize dealership do not want to keep cars with extensive history of repair, they allow small private dealership to sell their used car to customer and avoid the headache of lemon laws and tainted their reputation. I bought 2005 Benz CLK500 from a local small dealership only to find out it was in MB of honolulu inventories. It has front end damage but was not listed on carfax report and I assume the dealer aware of this issue and allow the smaller shop to sale their used car inventories. I only assume it was a trade in vehicle and they kinda force to buy it back and make profit on the other end of the sale.
So while the CarFax is clean, it does have the following record 1 year after purchase:
Seat or seat upholstery repaired
Interior trim repaired
Carpet protection installed
Console repaired
Door sill plate/trim replaced
Fuse(s) replaced
Just wondering what you guys thought of that? Would any of those interior issues be picked up during a PPI? The interior seemed great to me, but wth do I know
. Thanks for your help

Last time I did the PPI for my car, they have a check list of things should be operational and things that need to be repair or replace. As far as damage things that have been replace to factory parts, it will not show on the record. To be honest, the car is overprice and way too many damages to consider. You also will have difficult time resale a car with so much issues in the past. Good luck
I don't see any significant issues. I had a buddy that had similar parts replaced because they were slightly wore. He had a contact at the dealer that would replaced anything he wanted. No biggie....They were all cosmetic parts..

I don't see a ton of issues either. However, it does seem surprising that all those interior pieces were done, fuses replaced, less than a year from the purchase. Regarding price, it doesn't seem that out of line (for an asking price) compared to what I've seen. 47k seems fair, but I doubt they'll go for that.
I agree it is all cosmetic, clutch replacement is a good thing for a car that model year, but you must be wonder why there are so many things within the interior trim replace??? There gotta be some sort of water damage or something else worse? If I was a buyer I prepare for the worse case scenario, also for the asking price of $55k, I still think it is overprice. May be $50k or less.
I have to agree on the interior - how could it be worn after only one year (when the service was done - one year from the date of purchase). I'm going to pass...especially for 55k and no warranty.
New car? It is 7 years old.
Interior fixes could be the result of a sloppy owner. At least they were fixed properly.
People who worry too much about potential problems should likely not consider purchasing used cars. For me, the amount saved is well worth the low risk of future issues, although I like to have some kind of warranty to cover the first couple of years.

I hear you Ken, but those fixes were done within the first 12 months of ownership, not after 7 years. That's what concerns me - why is the carpet being treated, fuses being replaced and trim and center counsel being modified after 12 months? You do make a point however, no guts, no glory!
Well...I changed my tune and decided the car was worth an offer. It really is a beautiful piece of work. My offer was 47k, pending a PPI. They came down to $52k + they'd cover the cost of the PPI, but that left us 5k apart. They say it books for 54k private party + rims, + the new tires, + the condition, etc. etc. I'm not wild about them paying for the PPI either - I want to be the one who OWNS the PPI and I also want it taken to a dealer of my choice - not that they said it had to go to their dealer, but I'd just feel better about dictating the PPI.
I don't think it matters much, I don't think we're going to get there. I might come up to $49k Cash, but not one penny more.....we shall see.
Thoughts, opinions?

Sound like you already in love with this car, if that the case, you could totally ignore the fixes, as long as PPI come up clean. Remember, resale can be a little tough for you. As for the price, I think you nail it at $49k
