Pricing on an 06 2S Cab
I just don't see that many fixes. If the PPI and rev level checks out, the clutch is a non-issue, in fact, it becomes a bonus. The interior fixes - well, it is a little perplexing, but it could of been completely cosmetic. I sat in the car and test drove it, interior looked amazing to me and everything was working fine. As far as price, if I were to buy a stock C2S I'd want those exact rims so that would cost me what? 2-3k used? I might also have to buy tires...what's that, another $2k? And it has every option possible. Most people here thought 48-51 was fair. I guess I'm comfortable if the PPI checks out - have to take a few risks in life I guess. I'm not seeing many P cars out there with a cleaner or shorter Carfax report.
All that being said, I'm not sure if I'll raise my offer or not. Like I said, if I do, 49 is it.....pending the PPI of course.

well, it is just that if there are 'ifs', like the renewal/repair of interior stuff, it means something... as everyone is saying it could be nothing and completely benign and that could very well be the case, but there ARE fuses replaced, why? and carpet/seats repaired...my point is that when these things are there, they mean something, and you will probably never really know what, and when a black beauty like this is presented well, one may tend to want to overlook 'small stuff', and I am not above doing the same thing...I have been burned before, you could say I burned myself for similar reaction to a real 'looker', and not just cars... depending on where you are and how far you are willing/able to travel for one of these, there are plenty of others, especially black ones, patience, my son, it will pay off...best of luck in your search, and like someone else said, the hunt is at least half the fun, well, part of it anyway...cheers, kevin
Thanks for the responses guys. So, I questioned them about the interior, here was their response:
- "Looking at the parts listed, it looks as if there were scuffs and usual wear that the owner wanted replaced....Being the car was so new, and the original owner being picky, these things get covered under the warranty from Porsche....if it had water damage, it would be an insurance claim and not under Porsche service. Also, if you look, it says they applied carpet protection to ensure the carpet was clean and protected from the elements."
When I asked how they knew the original owner was "picky" a "non-smoker" and it had been "garaged", they said they were making an educated guess based on the condition of the car. I have to admit, that's a pretty good guess I think based on the look of the car...it's very very clean/nice.
Not sure about it being an automatic "insurance claim" if it was water damaged...I really don't know. I'd say there's a 95% chance this car is fine. It's in amazing "looking" condition. However, 5% is to big a risk on $50k with no warranty for a working stiff like me.
I'm walkin on this one - it's tough though, very very tough.

If you don't mind a drive down to LA, there is a really nice 4S cab. Guy is straight forward and from my conversation with him, everything is in pristine shape. A deal of a price as well.
I was looking into this one but wife did not like the cab.

I think it's a good move that you walk away. I hope you find a better one, but P cars always show up on market. I live in Hawaii and usually ship cars from the mainland to the island. To be honest, the black one in LA looks awesome too, and the price is much better than your last car.
Thanks guys for all your help and guidance...you've been awesome. KING...thanks for the recommendation..that looks like a great car. Not sure when\if I can get to L.A., to check that 911 out, but it's appreciated nonetheless. I've learned a lot over the last week and feel good about my decision. Regards guys....WCS
Interior in that car was probably replaced because the guy had a bottle of soda explode. You can always find a reason to walk away. The PPI and DME reports would have been my deciders.
If the car had come back mechanically sound and the DME showed no over revs above level 2 it would probably have been a good buy.

I was able to find out that Beverly Hills Porsche did the work on the interior record in the Carfax. So I gave them a call. Turns out it was a leaking AC Condenser Hose that leaked all over the floor and soaked the interior. They had to replace the carpet, some foam of some sort, seat parts and then they treated the carpet. Not sure about the fuses.
Seems pretty benign to me. They also did the clutch work and attributed it to stop and go traffic in L.A. where the driver lived.
Both seem like reasonable explanations. If it's still available, I'm going to have the PPI, DME done on Monday. If those come back clean, 50k sounds fair to me considering the options, condition, miles, new rubber, wheels I like, fresh service, new clutch, etc.
Anyway, I know I said I was going to walk, but the little extra digging has eliminated some of my previous fears.
