997.2 PDK Multi Steering Wheel with TECHART Paddles into 997.1 Tiptronic Multi

Finally installed a 997.2 PDK multifunction wheel with TECHART paddle shifters into my 997.1 Tiptronic with Multifunction. Everything works perfectly. Feels like I bought I brand new car, driving is much improved by replacing those comical tiptronic buttons with F1 style paddle shifters from TECHART.

Install went smooth as I had RUSNAK in Pasadena do everything. Took about 2 hours. It was expensive but well worth the money. I highly suggest this upgrade to anyone looking to enhance their driving experience.

Thanks to SUNCOAST (Ric) for providing me with everything I needed.

Everything installed perfectly, buttons and all work and light up. The install took about 2 hours which required removing the old wheel with the new one and reprogramming.

I installed the same steering wheel in my 2005 over the weekend. Took it to the local dealer today (Porsche Austin) to get it coded, but they couldn't figure how to get it to work. The tech told me to get more info and bring it back in. Does anyone have any specifics on how it should be coded? Neither the paddle shifters nor the multifunction controls are working at this point.

Do you know the name of the tech that did the install at RUSNAK? Maybe I could have the tech here call over there to get instructions.

You need to add the following: 997-613-289-01- steering control module

More info on how to do it here:

Thanks for the replies. I actually did install part 997-613-289-01- steering control module at the same time I installed the steering wheel.

If it's possible to install it on an 08 it should be possible to get it working on an 05 right?

You would think so, but it's not the same... not sure whats different, but that's what I was told from SunCoast Parts. This multi-function sport steering wheel won't work on older 997.1 (2007 and older) AND Turbo 997.1.

I found this other thread from user Kaz who has also had the PDK multifunction wheel successfully installed:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...y-997-1-a.html

I contacted him and his car is a 2007. I'm feeling more confident that I can get this working on my 05. He also gave me the name of the shop that installed it and they are willing to talk to my dealer about how they coded it.

Here's a pic of my new wheel installed with Techart paddle shifters:

I finally did get it working this past April. Took me longer to get it working because the local dealer couldn't figure out how to code it, and none of the indy shops wanted to attempt it. They all told me it couldn't be done, even after showing them posts from this forum that others had already done it. Not sure why they were all so skeptical and negative about it.

I ended up having to buy a PIWIS clone computer, and after playing around with it one weekend, I figured it out.

Ah crap, that's a little discouraging to hear hah. When you had it installed, did you need to have it coded to get all of the multi function working, or were the actual paddle shifters not working as well? I wanted to get the PDK wheel without extra buttons on it, so i'm hoping I wouldnt need the codes?..

You still have to have some coding done even if you don't have the multifunction controls. The paddles won't work if you don't.

I would need to have a dealership do the codes right, not an independent like Rennwerke Porsche http://www.rennwerke.com/
