tint issue

looking for some opinions regarding a tint problem. i took my '09 997 to a well regarded shop in san diego. they used 3m tint and completed the job. the next day, when i looked more closely at it i noticed the edges of the windows were not covered well--the dreaded "dot matrix" issue. i have researched this issue and find different opinions: some say this is unavoidable and that's that. others opine that their is a clean way to cover the dots. can anyone share their experiences with this? the shop owner is a p-car owner and enthusiast and he says his own car looks no better. i feel if it looks like this--i'd rather not have any tint.

Dot matrix issue has been around a long time and the top quality tinters know how to do it. Google "window tint over dot matrix" and you'll find lots of info.

Contact one of the Board sponsors like

and see what they suggest.

They need to rub the dots out the next day or by the 3rd day max.

IIRC, Premier sometimes takes road trips to SoCal - or call them to see if they have a SoCal recommendation.

+1 on this.

In fact, my installer told me to do this (using my finger and a microfiber cloth gently around any perimeters w/ dots) day two after install and repeat daily for up to a week (increasing pressure as week went on).

Good luck

Gosh I'm so used to this that it doesn't even occur to me that I have it until I look closely. It has become "normal" over the years.....

Not as bad as yours, though. Hmmm

Premier has a shop in the SoCal area from what I remembered.

Regarding the dots. A heat gun or blow dryer with a microfiber towel would make them go away. Heat from the outside.
