tint issue
tint issue
looking for some opinions regarding a tint problem. i took my '09 997 to a well regarded shop in san diego. they used 3m tint and completed the job. the next day, when i looked more closely at it i noticed the edges of the windows were not covered well--the dreaded "dot matrix" issue. i have researched this issue and find different opinions: some say this is unavoidable and that's that. others opine that their is a clean way to cover the dots. can anyone share their experiences with this? the shop owner is a p-car owner and enthusiast and he says his own car looks no better. i feel if it looks like this--i'd rather not have any tint.
Yeah man i have the same problem on the bottom of the window all dots!!
i deff wpuldnt have done it if i had known it was going to be like that. I also didnt go to the best of the best tinters decent ting guy. I wonder what happens if we take it off would it damage anything? Even the rear window with the defrost lines ughhh

Contact one of the Board sponsors like

and see what they suggest.
premier sounds like a top end shop, but they are too far away from me. does anybody have a reco for southern cal?

IIRC, Premier sometimes takes road trips to SoCal - or call them to see if they have a SoCal recommendation.
+1 on this.
In fact, my installer told me to do this (using my finger and a microfiber cloth gently around any perimeters w/ dots) day two after install and repeat daily for up to a week (increasing pressure as week went on).
Good luck

the more i look at this, the more i find it unacceptable. well to finish my story--i called the shop and to his credit, the owner gave me a refund. i'll be looking for a new place it seems.
