3M Paint Defender Spray Film - New

I was just watching Motorweek and it seems 3M has a new, cool looking product to protect the paint on the front of your car. Interested to find out if anyone has actually used it yet. Lasts about a year and seems easy to remove and reapply.

SoCal GT3 is infamous around these parts
Here is recent review:

LINK

It was not very positive and may be quite user dependent so I decided not to give a try.

Here is another thread with same guy from the Rennlist. I wish we had a second or third person to report their results...

I tried it on my daily car and results were okay for something that's temporary. I can see parts where I sprayed it on too thick and it bubbled, when it dried had a ton of ripples on it. and I waited too long to take the tape off so the tape line is not constant right across. I will do it on the 997S but only at the very bottom of the bumper which is not too visible and it will protect against the rock chips also right behind the rear wheels. It is definitely a product that is hugely dependent on the person applying it.

I just bought this for my brand new DD. I am going to try taking the bumper off and spraying it. I am trying to minimize the amount of stone/rocksalt chips on the front end of that vehicle. I'll post up in a few days what the results are.

X...

Save it on a mclaren. Looks like crap to be honest. It made the paint look matte on the applied surface and left a clear line of where tape was pulled.

I would not waste time and money. Also, the film looked too thin to protect the paint from rocks.

That's what I thought. Thanks!
