rear windows on convertible

Just going over some stuff on my new ( to me ) 2006 c4s convertible. I noticed the two rear windows have the rubber piece that when front window closes rest against . They both are worn away pretty bad to were that shinny rubber has become faded and the top layer has peeled off . I want to know if that rubber is part of the window itself ? Or can I pick it up somewhere , besides Porsche ? Thanks

Not part of the window. Is a replaceable seal. Costs about $ 40 each at a discount Porsche parts place.

Having only looked at it once, the seal on the front of the rear windows appear to be two pieces, the hard plastic piece and softer front piece that has a fuzzy coating on it that wears off over time. The PET shows only one seal for the rear window. My impression it is the softer seal piece and it slids into a receiving groove on the hard plastic molded piece atached to the window itself. Look for a thin slot shaped tongue that runs the length of the front edge of the new seal. Tongue would fit into the slot and should slide, am assuming from the top down, all the way into the base of the window seal near the top of the door.

I'll take a look once I get pieces ( about 2 days ). I called Porsche and they said to make appointment to have it done because the whole rear panel has to come off getting to bottom of window ? I hope your way will work ..

Not sure why. If you look at the molding piece on the car the whole piece is accessible with the door open and the rear window up. Push or pull it and it will slide up and down which is why I'm figuring that's how it is installed. Let me know what you discover when you get the parts.

OK , I'm picking it up tomorrow. The Porsche tech told me when I ordered it, I should make an appointment to have it done . He said the entire back panel had to come off to do it? That would be messed up if he was just trying to make me waste money ( he said about 3 1/2 hours labor )

Well, maybe we're talking about different parts. But, if it's like the tech guy says, I'd return the parts and live with ones you have because the fuzz will come off again, no matter what you do. Had mine replaced under warranty about 3 yeas ago and they are starting to wear again. Not worth $600+ to replace them IMHO.
Post up pics of the parts when you get them.

This is not true you can change those sills in like 10 mins by hand all you need to do is crack the rear window slightly to reveal the bottom.

They slide out. The stealer is trying to make money!

You guys are correct . Took me all of ten minutes and some soapy water. Looks like new. Old ones were worn pretty bad and caused a little cabin noise. Saved me a couple of hundred . Thanks for your help.......
