Offset and winter tires for 09 c4s need help!

Hi folks,

Just bought an '09 c4s !!! Now I need winter tires.

I found a decent set that is 8x18 front, 10x18 rear. I have a choice in offsets.. 47,50, or 62...

From the Porsche approved winter tire chart they say the ONLY sizes they recommend are 8x18 57EF (offset) front, and 11x18 51 EF rear.

I have read that many peoples on here are running sizes and offsets different than this...

My thought is to do 50EF in the front and 47 in the rear. Tire experts tell me that will be fine however I could go the extra mile and do 7mm spacers for the rear and that would line up with a lot of the tire packages I have seen out there...

I'm trying to figure out if the front to rear offsets should be apart a certain number of MM's or if that doesn't really matter as long as the fronts are inboard more so than the rears...?

Any help would be appreciated...

my 06 997 C4 is 56mm front and 51mm rear, I don't like the idea of messing with spacers, etc.

Please don't but 18s on your car!!! Go to Suncoast and look at their tire/wheel selections for the winter. They offer a 19in set. This is what I've used on my car for 3 winters in a row and they are perfect.

Would go with 5 spoke though, easier to clean!

hmm, id go with 18s... cheaper/lighter (less unprung weight) and you mount a skinner (and less costly) winter tire that should cut through the snow better.

Snow Choice -

My selection was to go with Michelin Pilot Alpins 235/40/18 fronts and 265/40/18 rears with black Andros Spec P rims from Damon at Tire Rack. About $2180 plus shipping with TPMS installed all around. Video taken a few days ago when we had the first freezing rain and snow fall.
