+4F Outside Today
It was a cold but sunny day today in the frozen tundra of Minneapolis. My baby has been under its cover for nearly three months. The roads were dry enough to take her out today for about an hour. Boy do I miss the warm weather!

Wow. I don't know if I could stand those temps in the winter. The weather here in Atlanta has been pretty cold with more on the way. I think the lowest it has been here this year is 7. That is cold enough for me!

Heated steering wheel is awesome!
I have been driving my C2 cab all winter this year for the first time here in Minnetonka MN
It is still sloppy even when 10 below. I can't stand seeing the salt on the paint. Then there is the black ice. I have no trouble but you can't see it. The pavement looks dry but it is pure ice from exhaust condensing on the road. We have had many days here 10 , 15 below in the morning. Lots of accidents. So I'm afraid some idiot will hit me and I take the 4Runner.
The Michlen Alpins have been working great. Still getting enough driving in to keep me satisfied untill spring comes the 3 ft of snow in my yard is gone and I can get on it hard again. I think I may have snow at the back of my drive till June.

4 F was the high temp all of last week at my house. On Wed it was -14 and the car very reluctantly cranked over, but caught/started on its normal number of turns. On Thu it was -24 and the car barely turned over at all. It sounded like the last few cranks of a dying battery before it just starts clicking. But miracle of miracle, on only the third crank the first time I turned the key, the engine caught and fired up. I've NEVER heard an engine sound that bad and actually start up (at least not without serious help like starting fluid, heating the engine block, etc), never mind on the first try with zero help.
On the flip side, considering temps of below zero are extremely common, -10 happens at least a few times a month, and -20 (and colder) at least once a month, it makes me a little nervous whether I can count on it to start. It's in an unheated garage isolated from the house by two sides of an unheated laundry room, and then the much larger shared wall has the kitchen cabinets and front hall closet behind them, so again no heat. It does stay very slightly warmer than outside, but not much.
I've been considering putting some heating in, but haven't decided what route to go. I just want something small and quiet to keep the temp at 35-40. Most heaters I've found have lower limits of 45. I I think I found one that goes down to 40, but I must have forgotten to bookmark it (oops). All of the digital ones don't go down low enough either. An alternate route would be to use a timer, which shouldn't be too difficult to tune in. I have an electronic thermometer with an alarm so I can monitor it and make sure the temp stays up.
