My first franken experiment

I recently purchased my first p-car and for some reason I want to start changing everything. Maybe it's the weather, maybe boredom.
But here goes....
Looking at this and other forums, it seems people are putting there radar detector displays inside the rearview mirror. Wow.It looks cool.
I had to see if this was something I wanted to get done professionally.
I chose the V1 because the Savvy makes the installation that much quicker(no hardwiring).
Thanks to 6speed and youtube, I learned how to remove the mirror.

Next I spliced the wires to fit it through the mirror .Then cut I think 3/8" acrlyc glass with a dremel cut wheel in the shape of the mirror glass.
After I sanded off the edges, I put one way mirror film on the glass.
The V1 display case was taken apart and taped to the back of the acrylic glass.
Done.
I don't like it. It's just awfully distracting to me at night.
Failed.
It will be changed back to stock.

Nice...I'm hoping that Santa will get me that for X-Mas. Would love it installed in the mirror...so sweet!

Nice work. Honest review is appreciated! I do like the Savvy unit, not so much for the install but the muting at low speeds. Too bad it won't black out or dim the display lights as well, when under the set speed.

Thanks. I'm sure you'll get one before then.

Thanks as well. That Savvy unit is awesome. Such a great little multi-purpose gadget.

I appreciate it. No, there is no way to dimm the disply lights unless you put tint film over it.

This is where I decided to put the display unit. Out of the way.
I'm thinking of getting the audio mute control to put on my steering wheel, just in case a LEO pulls me over.

Ran the V1 some last night and again this evening, just driving around with my 15 son, being hooligans on the back roads. The light doesn't bother me too much for that sort of fun drive, but I'm guessing longer road trips it would be torture. BTW...the V1 saved my *** tonight...back road, through a little town, 35 mph zone, started getting a steady hit on one target, progressively getting stronger, Sheriff patrol hit probably 1/2 mile away at least. And I definitely would have been going over 45...not "speeding" crazy by any means, but certainly anticipating the 45 mph zone ahead. Love running with the V1. If anything it reminds me to watch my speed vs. telling me I CAN speed.
