If you just don't want a thicker wheel you can stop reading here. If on the other hand OEM is what's important you can still have that with a thicker wheel. Option "XPA Thicker Steering Wheel" is a Porsche factory wheel with extra padding.

XPA isn't an option on the 997.2 Alcantara GT3 wheel. He simply can't do the job I requested and never gave me any indication otherwise. Plus the job he did is very poor, as you can see in the photos.

I agree. A simple..."if you don't want the extra padding I can't do it right" would have been a good start here.

On the flip side, I wanted DCT to make a padded wheel, thicker than the OEM "thick" wheel. He said he couldn't do it because it would be too mushy and could pucker! I was bummed because if I couldn't get it thicker than stock, I wasnt so sure of the benefit.

Afaik, the .2 cars don't come with a thick wheel option. I've never seen it. However, the .2 wheels are thicker than the .1 wheels and at least as thick as the .1 "thicker" wheels.

When you guys send yours back, make sure you make a comment "that you want it better than the job you did for the guy in Australia." He shouldn't be able to get away with poor workmanship.

I do not think I would be satisfied with the wheel you received. The amount of Alcantara on either side of the red stripe looks uneven (at least in pics) and the stitching on the right hand side is definitely twisted out more towards the driver than the left side, and a noticable bulge where the leather meets the Alcantara on the right....At least that's what I am seeing.

Most of that is camera noise. I measured the alcantara from the stripe to where it meets the leather (top of the wheel on down) and it's exactly 5.5 " on each side and the bulge on the right side just isn't there (see new photo). I'll give you this......the stitching in the upper right hand corner is probably about 2mm closer to the driver than the left side. I would never have noticed this without your input so it's obviously not something that will bother me going forward. Maybe I should be but I just can't be that **** about these cars. I'm afraid that the car would never leave the garage if I was.
