Fuel Pump - Any Issues Yet?

Has anyone replaced (or experienced) fuel pump issues yet? If yes, how many miles?

I have searched and so far, no data.

I am nearing 60K and I was wondering if I should do preventive maintenance. Looks like the replacement is Ez enough.

Thanks.

tiyyara is infamous around these parts
if you have a 997.2 there was an HPFP recall and they should've replaced it for you by now.
I do not recall any maintenance on it or on the FP for the 997.1

Yeah, I saw the recall on the 997.2. Mine is a 997.1 but I am reaching 60K and just wondering if it's worth watching out for.

Had issue on my 997.1 but wasn't necessarily pump per se issue... rather a wiring issue. In any event as I recall both pump and fuel sending units were replaced ~ 35k or so. In my opinion, I don't think it's a worry issue/preventative maintenance item at 60k. If it goes just r&r when that happens...

Good luck

Cool! I hope your info is correct.

My '83 SC pump go out after +50K so I am somewhat alert on FP's. Nothing is worst than you accelerating and then the car just dies on you.

Any symptoms you have experienced? I have replaced the fuel pump for my gt3 and I think I can help you out with this issue.

No 997 symptoms yet. Just trying to be proactive.

On earlier cars, the pump goes noisy. I wonder what symptoms we're going to have with the 997. I am going to assume the pump will get noisy too -- though it would be interesting since the pump is inside the tank (the tank will muffle the pump noise).

My car is a DD. I work in West L.A. 30 miles away, Los Angeles traffic and waiting for a tow truck has not been fun!

This, I try to be proactive!

If you have a 997.1, the fuel pump is similar to that used on many high volume cars. I would expect it top last 100 - 150K miles? If you had a 997.2 with a HPFP, I would be more concerned.

I checked out the part last night (pics and all), and yes, that sucker looks beefy. Let's hope it does last at least 100K miles.

Most of our 997.1 cars are still under 100K, and since no one has reported a single failure yet, I am pretty sure you are correct about its longetivity.

With 100K-150K estimate, I think I can take my chances (or being towed at least once every 5+ years).

I now have 75k on my car.

Anyone replaced theirs yet?

Reviving this thread! Man, 997.1 FP's are expensive.
