I appreciate everyone's suggestions and comments. For now I'm just going to wait for the dealer to get a second inspection and once that comes in I'll make my final decision. But as of now I'm passing on this 911. I'm sure another clean one will come around soon...

You're still not acknowledging the DME scan. Make sure that is part of the PPI.

If the DME is clean, I would strongly consider this car at that price, even more so if the dealer is willing to fix a few of the issues that really seem to bother you (like the leaking RMS) and battery cable. It's a very cool, fairly rare color. But, as many have pointed out, it's your risk tolerance vs. desire that has to be the deciding factor. Is a warranty a possibility?

i agree, i wouldn't pass it up, all used cars are bound to have issues, I would definitely just drive it first, I had to fly to Florida to drive mine.

Hey NFS007...
I had a 2007 S and sold it with 43k miles.
I never had any of those "Issues".
Do yourself a favor....look for one that turns out, after checkin it out....to be your Dream Car.
Would you want your daughter to date some dude with..."Issues"?

the car does not have anything, is completely normal for a 2007 things like that, check the battery date maybe is weak, all the other stuff is normal, tires yes you will have to change them, brake pads, break fluid etc. if you like the car buy it, by the way nice color and wheels!!

The RMS on mine started to leak a little bit at 45k miles. It was fixed under CPO.

FYI, this job requires that the engine be dropped. So factor The cost in as part of your decision process.

"Sounds pretty normal for a 33k 7 year old car. I am not put off by that stuff at all. Pretty darn minor in my book".

For a Porsche really?

Ok, so you are buying your dream car oh maybe for $50K OTD. She leaks, slow start, nick windshield, touch up here and there. Is that a dream car...?

Small leak become big leak, or big leak derived from small leak...
Slow start will become slower & slower & stop.

By the way does it come with a warranty? don't sound like it...

Walk - a - way...

Mattyf, I did acknowledge the point you and everyone has made about doing a DME scan. I understand the importance of doing this scan but the PPI did not include this report so I would have to request this separately which I'm going to do on the second inspection at another porsche dealership. Thanks!

Volnomad, first of all thanks for your feedback on this issue. I am waiting for the dealer to have another porsche dealer conduct a detailed inspection just to verify the first set of eyes were accurate in their findings and then have them provide the DME scan report. After this is done I will then know more or less my decision and what the dealer is willing to offer if I decide to purchase the car. I feel like I could have the upper hand in this situation if the DME comes in clean!

Point well made eldertec! Oh and btw the guy my daughter decides to take on a date will have "issues" if he screws up the date...

Tphan, what you just said is very true and to be honest my gut feeling is telling to walk away because a "true dream car" should be free from all these minor issues. All of this could've been avoided if the owner was more careful and attentive to his car! The porsche gods are very disappointed... Lol

Irrespective of the issues, I thought their initial ask was too high. If they can address the PPI punch list pre-sale, that be the way to go. Otherwise, keep looking and consider paying up to get a newer car w/a CPO warranty. GL.

I agree, everything sounds minor to me, even the RMS leak, it's a used car, not a brand new one, that and you are getting a rare combo car for less than $50K. I would love to see the DME report. These cars are low, it's going to have scratches, dents, rock chips, etc. As long as it's not in an accident.

When I brought mine over 4 years ago, RMS leak was the only problem the mechanic found. But mine was CPO'ed and I knew it's covered under warranty. I brought it anyways. I took it to my dealer and had it fixed. The price was $1,500 at my dealer. No big deal, I would be happy to pay that if it's not covered. Over 4 years now and no leaks, I drive it a few times a week. Every 997.1 will have RMS leaks if it's not driven for a long period of time. Unless your garage floor is full of oil, it's no big deal, if it is, it's not going to be an RMS leak, it's likely an IMS problem.
