Massive Coolant Leak...HELP!
Massive Coolant Leak...HELP!
Hi All, the water-temp gage was reading 190 and the oil temp was higher than normal. Parked the car and had a massive coolant leak coming from the mid bottom, not the rear. Coolant level very low. Assuming to there is a line rupture from the front radiators or bleeder valve not a water pump or reservior issues, leak is not coming from the rear. No pictictures available. HELP...

I doubt the heater core or the rad my vote says the elbow. That damn elbow failed on me twice both times complete flush of my coolent on the floor. I noticed it happend when i pushed the car really hard but then again i asked my indi if it was from the presure that the elbow or clamp gave he said no i guess its another porsche fail lol

I got 37k miles all from me. I would say failed once in the late 20k miles and the second time around @32k its such a simple fix to. First time i thought it was the rad or somthing but after pulling the plastic tray off i was happy to see just the elbow disconnected.
I had a crack at the intake to the coolant overflow tank. Pretty big spill on a hot day. Consider a preemptive water pump replacement while you are in there for repairs. It's another known failure item.
The waterfall is coming from the front half of the vehicle, no coolant loss from the rear so reservoir, cap and water pump are functioning fine, thanks for the diagnostic. This was not a slow leak, but a dump of 4 liters of coolant. Dropped the vehicle off this morning and they will not be able to repair it for three days...all this for a $5 part...
Do not know if it is the elbow as they will not look at it until Thursday. Hopefully it is and all roads lead to a clamp or line failure of some sort based on the location and volume. The vehicle has 42,000 mile on the clock. Would not want this to happen on a long distance trip or on the track, motor would be cooked.
