Fuel additives - opinions

Curious as to what opinions are out there on fuel additives, of course it sounds great the benefits but all that could just be marketing -

Unless the fuel you are buying is an inferior grade or of a very low octane number, you should not need to use these products. Most I suspect would be of use on the racetrack vice the open highway.

The only thing I might consider using is a quality fuel system cleaner (such as Techron) and just before a scheduled oil change.

It mentioned some benefits to the fuel system.. I always use 98RON fuel here in Oz, so I guess adding this would bring it to 100RON?...

Another Techron guy here. It's the only additive I use. And yes, one or two bottles before the oil change.

I know what you mean. Unfortunately, this additive is like you taking vitamins (or an oil change). You just don't get measurable tangible benefit --- it just does its benefits.

Just curious is it Techron 5000 you guys use? Is there only one type of Techron fuel additive?

Also with a 997.1 we don't have direct injection right? Is Techron still of any use in this engine?

You're not in USA so I am not sure if the bottle is labeled differently. Here, this is what I use. And I use it for all my vehicles (Toyotas, Hondas, '83 SC, '07 997, Yamaha crotch rockets).

Amazon.com: Chevron 65740 Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner - 20 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: Chevron 65740 Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner - 20 oz.: Automotive

And 99% of the time, I use Chevron gas (it has Techron in it).
