Question 997.1 or 997.2 GT3 Bodywork?

Ok, so I bought all the OEM 997.1 GT3 bumpers and exhaust and I'm about to pull the trigger on the wing which is a major purchase, but I am up in the air now because I have a 997.2 GT3 rear bumper sitting in my garage and I can buy the RS wing to match, but I don't want to run the 997.2 back end with the 997.1 front.

So should I just rock the 7.1 or just complete the look and go all the way with the 7.2?

I like both, but with parts sitting here for both it is TRULY a conundrum...

I have now:
997.1 GT3 Front bumper OEM
997.1 GT3 Rear bumper OEM
997.1 GT3 Cup front chin spoiler
Center exit exhaust/headers
All OEM brackets and heat shields for rear bumper
All Ducting and center radiator for front bumper
997.2 GT3 Rear bumper (requires new tail lights which I plan on buying anyway)

you are going to want to do it after finishing a 997.1 GT3 kit anyways

so do it right the first time !

The only thing is I like the front better of the 997.1, and I would have to get the flared fenders to make the 997.2 front bumper to look right since they are built into the sides of the front bumper.

I agree the .1 front looks best and the .2 rear looks best.

You can never see the front and rear at the same time anyway so why not mix it up? most people won't even know the difference...

Well considering my wifes uncle owns a couple of 997.2 RS's (among others), we will be going to Porsche meets and track days together. I'd rather stay gen specific and make the car match. I don't want it to look like a hodge podge of used parts parked next to his.

But then again, I'm not trying to make a replica either...

If I had someone who wanted to pick up one set (997.1 or 997.2) from me that would make my decision easier...LOL

Sooo, is this the 997.2 GT3 bumper (non RS) ???

If you're gonna park your car next to a real gt3RS, having a look-alike, gen1 or gen2, won't look that great either...but that's just my opinion.

If I had a "replica" gt3 (front and rear bumper essentially makes it a replica on the outside, unless you're not doing the wing which I think is going to look weird), i'd stay as far away from a real one as possible =)

I just went thru similar questions when trying to find the body kit for my .1, front this rear that... etc... and finally decided to do a full conversion to .2 at the same time.

It's just .1 of X looks better than .2 of X, or vice versus, but also I know having an un-matched generation of style will annoy me. So I'm going full .2 for me.

Once again, not building a "replica" but staying vehicle/generation specific to me is important. Especially when you are going to be hanging around the "purist" of the Porsche world.

I think mixing the two generations would be like a boxster with a 991 conversion front... It just don't work! LOL

Completely agree with this, if it was me a .2 is going to drive past and I sure would've second guessed had I gone .1.

I think the .2 rear bumper will look fine with the .1 GT3RS wing. I like the .1 GT3RS wing better, probably b/c I am biased. lol

Question

Wing is where I'm at now, this is my conundrum...

I can go either way I have not bought the wing yet.

So If I go with 997.2 I just need tail lights and front bumper, assuming the 997.1 radiator scoops/vents work with 997.2 bumper, and all the rear 997.1 heatshield's work with my 997.2 rear bumper.

And at that point I would like to find a 997.2 front bumper that doesn't have the fender flares.

Wink

Well due to lack of OEM 997.2 USED parts I guess I'm going to complete it as a 997.1, and start to compile my 997.2 parts as I go for a later conversion!!!:nono:
