Help! Voodboo Blue Paint - Experience with Paint to Sample?
I have a Polar Silver 911 but I fell in love with the Voodoo Blue color. The car is already at the body shop, but the paint shops are finding it impossible to find the color. I pulled the VIN on a Voodoo Blue GT3 4.0, and the dealer provided me a paint code of Z12. I also found a printout with all the paint codes for the various Paint to Samples, same, Z12.
Paint shops are unable to find anything with the 'Z12' code. Is this the same case for all Paint to Samples?
In conclusion, how can I get this paint? Second option is Mexico Blue, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the Voodoo Blue. Is there a code they can produce the paint from, or do they need a sample to match from?
A million thanks! Already have VF SC, GT3 997.2 front end and 997.1 spoiler, will be adding GT3tek rear bumper, sideskirts, and powdercoating the wheels black. Help me make this dream come true! lol

Hey Tom,
This is my guess. It is a PTS on a paint that PAG never made stock. That is, someone (or someones) submitted the color for PAG approval, they gave the okay, and assigned it a name and code. (Note that Toyota has a "Voodoo Blue" color.). Whoa, just had about a 4.0 to 5.0 Earthquake! Anyway, out of curiosity I did look up Porsche Blue codes and found a site with about 100 different blue codes. Voodoo and it's code was not among them - yet the color does exist on Porsches.

Thanks for the pointers guys. Talked to a popular paint supplier (Annex), they have a 2009 porsche voodoo blue z12 in their BASF database. Rep on the phone googled the voodoo blue RS 4.0 and is fairly certain it's it. Going to buy a pint and have the shop shoot a sample.
I thought about the wrap, just too much $$ for something so temporary. Then if you damage it, the repair would not match due to discoloration from the sun. I'm assuming car is going to lose value with color change, I was debating out it for a while and decided, oh well, plan on holding on to it for a long time.
GT3Tek is working on a 997.2 gt3 front lip that lines up with the new side skirts. In the interim, I have not decided if I will leave the lip black or paint it.

I love paint-to-sample cars, having owned two, and selfishly hope you go for it so I can enjoy it vicariously. Blues in particular look great on a 911, and I'm not the only one on this board who thinks so.

Ok, well I went to the paint shop and picked up a 4 oz. sample of the BASF Glasurit 2009 Porsche Voodoo Blue. I wanted to test a sample first, since the only Voodoo Blue Porsche I've ever seen (kinda) is a 2011, but the database only has a Z12 Voodoo Blue for 2009. Take a look at the pic guys, do you think it is it?
I edited the original voodboo blue GT3 RS 4.0 to look more like my finished project, minus the rear wing. First pic is of my actual car.

Based on other pictures I've seen of the Voodoo Blue 4.0, I think your samples are correct. Low-light and indoor photos of the 4.0 look a lot more like your samples than the outdoor/daytime photos.

Work is in progress, I think the car will be out next week. Took some effort, but finally found the paint (BASF- Glasurit recognized paint code). Will be getting the GT3.2 body treatment and GT3Tek side skirts. Roof and blade will be in the Mercedes Designo Matte Black, also will have a matte black checkered flag.
