Hello, and turbo kits :P
Hey guys, I'd like to introduce myself. My background is Formula 2000 racing (just for fun).
I'm thinking about picking up a 2006 997 carrera s cab end of August and had a question.
I want the car to be a DD and weekend track car. I'm also a big fan of turbo performance, and google hasn't helped me much on that end.
Would the AMS alpha 9 or 10 kit fit on this car? Do you guys have any recommendations?
Thanks

Thanks guys, I was doing the math. With the TPC kit, I'd come out about 10k ahead than if I bought a stock turbo

And will be faster than a 997.1 Turbo, I believe.

That's what u want.
I agree with you that the Mezger design is a robust design, and a stock Turbo will be worth more than a modified C2S, everything else being equal. However, my philosophy in buying and owning cars is that the car is not an investment, but rather a product to enjoy and tinker with to your heart's content. When you look at it that way, then its value is priceless.

+1. No way I would want to bolt on a turbo to an engine that wasn't designed to be a turbo to begin with. I guess with minimal boost, the engine might hold up, but I would be concerned.

These kits are with minimal boost. The TPC one is 5.5 lbs, and the VF-Engineering one is 6 lbs. Quite small amount of boost in the world of F/I. That is not to say that these engine will not see any increase stress due to F/I application, but if tuned correctly, these engines do well on F/I.
