New shocks or coil overs

When getting my tire replaced I noticed oil coming out of my rear shock. I have a 2005 c2 that is only used as a DD and some spirited driving. I want to replace all strut/shocks as the car has over 90k miles. There are some cheaper coil overs out there but not sure of reliability. I understand that the coil overs would be a stiffer ride. Pelican has heavy duty and normal shocks but no description on them. Any thoughts?

I have the bilstein damptronics on my car and they ride much smoother than the stock shocks in normal mode.

saw some non pasm shocks in the classifieds

nvm looks like those might be PASM (some of the interior pictures show the PASM button. Worth asking tho if you are interested in coilovers

I have the Bilstein Damptronics also. Ride is firm but very tolerable. I love being able to set the ride height exactly how you want it.

I would go by price. If shocks are way less expensive, then I would go with OEM shocks, since I use 997 as a daily driver only.

For a non-PASM daily driver, keep it simple.
  • Bilstein 24-118224 46mm Monotube Shock Absorbers in the rear
  • Bilstein 35-118213 36mm Monotube Strut Assemblies in the front

I have a complete set of OEM 2005 C2 struts/shocks that i replaced with a set of KW V-3 coilovers at 8,353 miles. They have just been sitting in a box in my garage taking up space ever since. PM me if you might be interested in them.

The R will become famous soon enough
Is the vehicle going to be lowered or already lowered? If so, I'd go coilover. Will cost more than shocks, but it's the only to go lower and have good dampening. I have Damptronics on my C2S and am glad I went that route.

Bilstein and H&R make some very nice quality pieces for your C2.

AWE Tuning currently has all of these on promo (10% off)

I have decided that when it is time, I would go with non-coilovers since my car is a daily driver, cost difference is significant (cheaper), and I might use the 'shorter' Bilsteins.
