I have a 2005 997 C2. when I open or close the car using the remote on the key, I have to be practically next to the car. If I am standing like 10ft away sometimes it will activate most of the times it won't. I have put brand new batteries in the remote and that did not take car of the problem. Any ideas?

 

Do you have a second key/remote? Same symptoms?

 

Dude same with me on my 997.2 I even have to point the remote directly at the car from just a few feet away in order for it to work. As a side note, I've had my car for 4 months now, it's my daily driver so I've put about 4k miles on it. I've noticed so many little quirks and things about it that I don't like. But I guess at the end of the day I overlook those flaws because it looks so sexy and it's fast and fun to drive. I guess kind of like being with a hot chick that has a horrible personality hahahah

 

Same thing happens with the second remote. Funny a friend just got a 997.2 and his works from very far away. Maybe the receiver in the car has an issue?

 

I have the EXACT same problem. 2012 model year.
I hope someone knows what's going on.

Just for grins, I tried mine when I went out a bit ago. Remote works from 60 paces for me. There is something interfering with the antenna in the car. Has there been any recent work/problems that could explain that: replaced windshield, tint (even if clear), PCM change, GPS problems, etc? Or did this just suddenly happen?

 

I had the tint done a while ago, but long before I had tint it would always do this.
