Just got a 997 and wanted to say hi to everyone here!!
Hi guys. I purchased a black on black 997s 2 weeks ago and have been loving every minute of driving this car. I have already ordered h & r springs for it, but was also wondering what else you guys would recommend for the car. I am having a hard time deciding on wheels. Anyone have pics of wheels on a black on black?
How much money do you want to spend? The black Techart wheels look hard. And HRE's are the best wheel money can buy, depends on if you can wait 4-6 weeks for them. Reprogram the ECU after you break in the engine. An exhaust would be a great first buy as well. Now for the H&R springs, cancel the order and get yourself some coilovers, you won't be dissapointed, PSS9's or JIC are the best. The Short Shift is a must buy!! An Aero kit looks hot too, depends on your style, there are quit a few out there. Search around the net for pics and try all the links to your right. Have fun!
Ok make sure you don't cancel the H&R springs... i don't know what Quinn is talking about but your PASM standard on all C2S should be left alone... it does a better job than most streetable coilovers out there... and may i recommand a AWE tuning full exhaust system... and welcome to the board... drive it in good health!!!
Thanks for the replies. I actually want to do some track events and shows with the car so I would like to build it up as best as possible. I dont worry much about pricing b/c I used to own my own shop and a friend of mine owns a shop around my way. I was thinking of doing the full AWE exhaust system with the Evo supercharger. I am also thinking of Techart Bodykit and I already ordered the Hamann rear wing. Like I said the only thing I am not sure on is wheels. I dont want anything too heavy. I was looking into HRE C21 or Kinesis f110. Any other suggestions you guys might have?
I have the H&R lowering springs on my car with the HRE C21's and the car handles better than the coilover setup I had on my 01 996 that was setup for track. PASM is phenominal and handles the power of the supercharger (500 hp) with ease. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise because I'm am the only who has a supercharged 997S in the country and I speak from experience. Check out page 12 of the "favorite wheels" thread to see a pic of my car with the C21's lowered. Good luck with the mods!
congratulations, x51 package will be great if money is no issue , short shifter , do you have the PCCB ?

So you guys think coilovers are not the answer, then why does every race car on the track have them? I've never seen PASM on a car that's been in an official race so why in the hell do you think it is the BEST set up for a Porsche? If you plan on keeping the car for more than a couple of years, you will be dissapointed when your suspension starts to sag and you blow out your shocks from the unusual amount of pressure that has been loaded on them, but just my opinion.
Don't listen to Quinn, he is obviously very new to the 997 and doesnt know much about the 05+ PASM specs. I did tons of research and the H&R setup is the best for 997s with PASM. Enjoy!!
