Yep, I traded my 2003 Carrera six speed for a 2006 Carrera S six speed with X51. And I couldn't be happier with the change. Just about everything that bugged me about the 996 has been remedied in the 997.

 

The Boxster was alot of fun, but there aint nothing like this 997
plus the 996's are starting to look so ancient now at this point....oh what could the future hold 998 999 then what???

 

im still on the edge...not liking the 997TT so far (styling wise) and no one knows if the performance boost will be that significant...

 

Another trader... Went from 2001 996 C2 cab to 2006 997S cab. Absolutely agree with Aerosmith, they fixed a lot of stuff and improved everything. The car actually includes a lot of silly stuff that was optional on the 996. I am not sure what interior trim things are included on the S but it came as a surprise to find footwell lighting, aluminum pedals, memory seats, rain sensing wipers, etc etc etc. All megadollar items on the 996 options list.

 

Hated awd and it's corrupting effect on the handling - WAY too much understeer. 997 is better allround.

 

I have a 996 currently with a 997S cab to arrive in Jan. Trying not to dwell on the wait time....

 

Wow, 997S cab for Jan delivery in CT!?!?! You won't even be able to put the top down. That will truly suck!

 

i sold my 200 996 c2 for 997......much nicer in every way!

I'm sure I'll check out the rag top a bit, just not that much. I took delivery on a boxster a few years back in late november. Just my timing I guess. No worries re hypothermia K, I'm a doc myself.

 

I'm actually doing the deal this week, 996 C4S for 997 C4S, that way I don't have to change my screen name!
