997.1 Aerokit Front Spoiler

Hello everyone. I love the look of the aerokit front bumper but I'm not too crazy about the rear wing.

My concern is what's mentioned on SuncoastPart's website:
Reduces ground clearance and maximum approach angle on gradients. Porsche does not recommend installing this bumper without adding a rear spoiler.

I'm sure you've heard this question asked plenty of times, but my search for a definitive answer has been unsuccessful. Is there a thin front spoiler lip you can use with the aerokit bumper that wont affect clearance as much?

I know for the most part, I wont be reaching speeds where I should necessarily be concerned about the aerodynamic "imbalance" of having the front spoiler without the rear wing. My main concern is ground clearance and scraping. I came from a lowered E46 M3 on PSS9's and that was just a pain at times with speed bumps etc.

I don't know about a thinner one, but my factory one rubs on EVERYTHING, even if you're being careful.

best choice is to buy a spare one from ebay for like $125 and swap out here and there. if your car is lowered it will scrape everywhere. plus the ebay ones are very flexible and will take hits much better.

scraping is inevitable, it's a consumable piece. Mine is also lowered so a razor blade come handy during clean up time...hated the scrapping sound though.

As for aerodynamic w/o rear spoiler, i can attest. My car came with the aerokit front bumper and no rear wing. On windy day, at high speed 100mph+, rear end felt very light. That is no longer an issue with matching wing installed.

As for look, w/o the rear wing, the car has an uneven look to it...long nose.

What! Where did you get a front lip for $125? I swap mine out like once or twice a year because even if your careful they get trashed!

Here! Here! I've become quite proficient at navigating some pretty hairy driveways et al. but it's always an adventure. I'm actually redoing my driveway in the spring and they have some tricks with the apron to help since the approach to my home is steep...

As an aside, I keep my lip spoilers matt black. They may look nice when painted but the first rub creates unsightly stress cracks. It's a complete nightmare.

While I shared your concern about aerodynamic imbalance, I scrape my non-aero front bumper almost every time I exit my condo garage. I have noticed no imbalance whatsoever having only a rear wing, even at triple digit speeds. I love the looks of the aero front, but made a conscious decision to go without. I don't regret it a bit.
