New 997 TT observation......

Thnx Rich for the artilce -

Ok - the more we see the same car the more we realize there is not that much camo here guys (fake grills on nose, tape on lights , tape on air scoops, and some camo on the rear bumper)

1. This is the real front nose with a camo'd section adhered to it (the phony grills ect)

2. As you can see where my red arrows are the front lip flows with the side trim and I think this is 100% the real lip for the 997 TT nose.

3. There will be scoops where the taped camo'd scoops are; the question is are they single cut-outs like we have on the 996TT's or nice smooth one's like the 993 TT "s" had. ( I hope for the latter)

4. yes of course some camo on the rear bumper but this is really what we have here guys and gals and I am telling you in person this will be a great looking ride

The cool thing is that from the looks of it, the turbo rear spoiler should fit a 997 C2/C4. The lights are the same and the engine lid is the same. So for the record...... anybody that will be replacing their rear spoiler for an aftermarket one, esp arctic silver, contact me first!

Robert I would bet the decklid is wider than yours

Nope, not the decklid. Even on the 996, the decklid dimensions between the TT and the Carrera are the same. They are interchangable. The only difference is that the Carrera decklid is smooth whereas the TT and the C4S has a groove in it. I would think that for tooling and cost cutting reasons alone, this would remain the same with the 997 Carrera and TT. Regardless, it's not the decklid I want anyways, it's the spoiler itself. If you look at the pic, the decklid is the same as a 997 Carrera, no groove and the entire TT spoiler is attached to the part that is normally louvered and raises on the Carrera (The little movable rectangle on the Carrera decklid).... disconnect the electrics, drop in a 997TT spoiler and voila.... looks nicer than a Techart Type II.

Using several reference points on the 997 C4S, 997 C2, and the 997 TT cab spyphotos, you can tell that the decklid is the same.

1. Width of the 3rd brakelight crease
2. Width of the license plate cutout and the rear bumperettes
3. Middle of the red portion of the rear taillights marks the bottom of the engine lid
4. Top of the white portion of the rear taillights marks the bottom of the louvered spoiler cutout/TT wing

Looks to me like Porsche is doing another cost cutting move and is using the same taillights across the model line. In fact, that explains why there is no red horizontal reflector on the 997 C4S. The bottom of the engine lid doesn't line up with the bottom of the reflectors and the size of the taillights on the C4S and C2 are exactly the same. The additional 1.75" comes from the flared out fenders starting with the outer edges of the taillights.

You also can't really use my avatar as a comparison to the above photo because the vertical angle is different. It gives a completely different perspective of the car. You see less hip. I will try to get a similar pic tomorrow when I get home.
