Sparco evo ii u.s. Seats in gts
The GTS is a great platform but the stock seats don't keep up with the grip provided by the wider track, coil overs and Hoosier A7's. A change was in order. Living in Southern CA is great because of all the resources here: Porsche MOTORSPORT, GMG, Sparco to mention just a few. I went to Sparco and sat in all of the seats there. By far the EVO 2 II U.S. Model was the most comfortable. I am 6' tall with a 34 inch waist. These seats were the most comfortable. And as I would drive the car on the street as well as the track they were the obvious choice.
I confirmed with GMG that the seats would fit....but just. As I would like the car to not look like a full race vehicle I took my Sparco seats to the upholsterer and had them re-finished in Sand Beige Leather to match my interior. Wow! They look great!
The install...This is where the problems started...
I chose to go with full bases and sliders from GMG. Their customer service has been outstanding and the staff very helpful. These are high quality items that have a lot of adjustments to help with install. I must have put the seats in and out more than 10 times trying to get the seats to fit but to no avail. The seats were too wide at the bottom where the seat flair out to accommodate thunder thighs. The seats also were too wide at the shoulders. The shoulder flair would hit the door when closed, but just barely. Frustrated and defeated I gave up thinking I would have to go with the Evo 2 (non US) seats and loose my shirt on the first set. My last ditch chance was to go back to the upholsterer and see if they could help.
That is where we stand today...the seats are back at the upholsterer with the task of narrowing the shoulders (facing the doors) and base flair (the bottom end of seat). They seemed confident they could give me 1 inch of room. We will see!

I had the sparco II in my Evo that ran 9 seconds back in the day - amazingly comfortable seat - I would sit in that thing for hours - very wide in the shoulders though - I would imagine a tough fit in a Porsche
Karl B, They would not fit without some trimming. The SPARCO 2 U.S. versions had to be trimmed in two places: The shoulder section closest to the door and the leg area closest to the center console. The SPARCO 3's are even bigger so I would not think they would fit.
Well a quick update...The seats are IN!! And they fit like a glove. HUGE difference in road feel and response. It's like an amplifier for the feel. You can sense immediately what the car is doing...now I get it
. A few observations. This was not an easy task. It takes MUCHO patience. Lots of fiddling. I installed the Brey Krause harness bar and will mount the Sabelt Harness tomorrow. Overall I am pleased with the look. I retain the "stock" look of the car by using the same leather materials and very high quality parts. I have ordered from ebay a replacement rear carpet cover for under the harness bar and will retain the original part if I need to tale everything out. I will take pictures when complete. Cheers!
