Issues with DRL on 997.1

Last week, the driver side LED fog lights went out. I went ahead and purchased a new set of LED fog light and replaced it. The lights are still not coming on. Passenger side works fine with old set and new.

Was wondering if there is something that is simple that i should check before taking it in to a shop so they can check it out.

Thanks for your help!!

I'm confused by which lights you mean on a 997.1 when you say DRL. Usually people turn their 997.1 fog lights into DRL's using a $2 diode hack on the headlight switch. Could you post a photo of the light you mean?

Ok, are your fog lights OEM halogens or aftermarket LED's? Are you using them as DRL's with the diode hack or an aftermarket module to turn them on? Or keeping them as standard fog lights? Are all three bulbs out on the driver's side assembly or just one or two? If only one or two, which ones? Is your left side marker working (sometimes amber glass, sometimes clear)? What about your horn?

As best as I can tell the left and right fogs share a common fuse and a common connector to the control unit, so that's probably not the problem. One quick test is to swap left and right. They obviously won't fit in the bumper but you should be able to connect the wires. This would confirm the assembly and bulbs are working. If it tests out fine (which I suspect it would) then front control unit module would be next.

Bah, you edited the first post and deleted a reply. No worries, you know what I mean.

Do you have your original OEM fog lights? I'd test them first to isolate things down.

One other thing, LED's are often direction sensitive. It's not clear if you bought LED bulbs or a full LED fog light assembly. Try reversing the LED's in their sockets as they often only turn on when installed in the correct orientation.
