Unless you invest in a quality 3M or similar clear bra, then your paint is going to suffer. I had a clear bra installed by the dealer when I bought my Porsche new in '09. It has held up very well. It does have a couple of hits that have torn the clear material, but we are talking extremely small points and at no time did the material allow penetration through to the paint. In another couple of years I will probably have the clear bra removed and replaced with a new one.

Well worth the investment IMHO. All of my cars for about 8 years now have had clear bras installed when new. Keeps the front looking nice despite the miles. I do a full wrap on the hood, front bumper, headlights, fog lights and mirror backs. I have done the A pillars on some cars. Also on my DD's I add a thin strip on the door edge (just in case). Never been disappointed.

I am not too happy with clear Bra, especially on certain colors. I rather go the route of a new paint job for the bumper and the hood.

Less expensive and a lot nicer.

depends on where you drive... I m in such a rural area no one is ever in front of me so not much if anything on my front after 20K. I also would rather paint a bumper in 5/10 years than go with the plastic.

Since I don't wat to start a new thread on a similar topic. My 05 clear bra is really showing it's age. What's the best way to take it off?
Thanks

I ended up getting the bumper and part of the hood resprayed. 60 days later I had a clear bra installed.

Im the condom on the cucumber type. Ive even had all my fleet vehicles for my company apply 3M bra to as im paint crazy im keeping factory finishes, factory. I have entire hoods and fenders done... so no edges to look at.

All my Audi buddies I think are secretly jealous as they rip me in person for spending money "on a condom on a car".

on the freeway I always leave at least 3 car length between me and the car in front

If you ride a motorcycle without gloves, you realize how much sandblasting occurs on the freeway with cars in front of you...

I agree 100%. Clear bra reminds me of back in the days when you visited your grandmother and sat on those sofas with the clear protective covers. You butt will sweat...... I rather refresh the paint once it gets bad. Those clear bra will eventually discolor no matter how good they are.
