For me I was uploading a flash when the software, Softronic, says it received and error and to recycle power and try again.

It could never upload the tune. Have done it before but I went back to stock for a smog and just to reset the ECU with an airbox change.

I'm hoping that the reset from a Durametric solves the issue. I cannot start the car either. Don't know if that fault causes a start issue or not.

I will contact Darin at FD Motorsports for him to stop by my house and reset it.

Crossing fingers!!!

Hello,

When you flash the car use one file and do not try to read then flash then read flash etc. You were also trying the tuned file then the original back and forth in between reading .... Re boot the computer and either flash the Tuned or original and as per the instructions if you have an error reboot and flash again with the same file.

Best,
Scott

Thanks Scott. I spoke to you on the phone couple weeks ago about putting my tuned file back in my ECU? Remember?

Very informative conversation!! I will try what you have indicated and see what happens. Hope it works. Car is dead now!!

What do you mean by "read then flash then read flash?"

What is "trying the tuned file then the original back and forth?"

Just want to know how it's possible to FUBAR the ECU and how to avoid it. Was considering a chip tune, but this makes me have second thoughts.

Hello,

First the ECU would not be "FUBAR" it can always be fixed. When you go to write a tuned or original file you write it as per the instructions. Should it fail you would then simply reboot the laptop and perform the process again as a write for the same tuned or original file.

What you don't want to do is try to write a tuned file as an example and have an error then instead of writing it again try to read out the car and then try and write the original and read and then tuned etc. Doing this never allowed the program to correct and finish the file you started to write yet continues to generate errors while never completing a file. The read process is not done at all when programming.

Basically in this instance you would write the tuned file and if there was an error do it again and it would complete....

I hope this clarifies flashing a tune or original file.

Best,
Scott

Tried and tried. Unable to erase memory comes up and then program moves to the next memory with no results.

Getting frustrated to say the least. Cannot get file to write to ECU. I'm trying the original file as a note.

Will try a couple more times but with the car not even starting I may have to tow to dealer to fix.

Bet you the dealer will say I need a new ECU and with them having my car there and I drivable they will have me by the *****. Ugggggg

Hopefully Darin from FD Motorsports can use his cable and maybe reset all the faults and get it to work.

Will see. =(

I'd try to find an Indy Porsche specialist shop and let them fix this. I'd avoid the dealer at all $$$cost$$$ for something like this. You know what they will say and do.

Yep. Got my Indy set to come by my house and see if he can fix. I was able to finally get the entire upload to work on the car. Several attempts paid off. Most of the faults have stopped but car doesn't start. Acts like battery is low, but isn't. Hopefully the reset of faults by Darin can get me back up and going. Seems like I'm close compared to where I was.

I can just here the dealer now, sir you need a new ECU for $ 500.00 and labor to install and reprogram will be $2,000.00. Hoping to avoid that issue.

What I hate the most about the dealer is the way they talk down to you like you're the stupidest person in the world. Always have this attitude that they know it all and I'm only capable of putting gas in the car. I can imagine how they treat the ladies that come in there for repairs. 😳

After several tries the original program finally uploaded. Faults started to go away. Car wouldn't start but after talking to Scott @ Softronic, it was determined the battery was not charged. Left car on charger for the night and all day today.

Came home and car started. All faults went away and I'm back in business. Props to Scott for his help and showing me what I did wrong while flashing my ECU. Valuable lesson learned for sure!!! Those instructions are there for a reason!!

Thanks Scott!!

Asked the dealer today for a quote on the cable replacement. $1,100 installed

$1,600 if I add the starter which he recommended because he says it's probably going to go out like the cable.

Damn that's a lot for a battery cable.
